Sulem players are in fine shape for the contest. Keenc, wno win prouaoiy be the local box selection, never felt in better fettle and f'ole is only too ager to get a eraek at the enemy. Sport Chatter Rumor has it that Kay Bobcl will not be seen at first any more as lie lias been offered a good position at Medford with a chance to piny on the team in that city. Ray hasn't admitted any intention of shifting allegiance, however. Captain Johnny Humphreys goes to Bieitcnbush this wecl for two weeks session at the hot springs. Malinger Kleet has not decided who will fill in at the keystone sack yet. Griggs made a good impression Sunday at his first appearance at third.

His hitting was not up to his capabilities in thnr direction but no one could find fault with the way he whipped ho ball across the diamond. Ho will probably make himself noticed in the nummary from now on. The Kirkpatriclts wi in Snlem a neck from tomorrow to contribute another victory to the T-oju string. That is, Salem fans think they will. However, a little bird has whispered that the Kirkpatrrcks are quietly strengthening their team for t'ie contest and a kenutiful surprise may be In store for Salem bugs.

STOLE HIS FORD We hev bed the circus fever, and the itch for county fairs, We hev lied the baseballitis and them one horse street affairs That they call a grand carnival, we hev had 'em all, by jing, But there's nothin' stirred us home folks like this new thing. Ma's been Bavin' of the butter money since the news got to our pltieo, And the boys hev beeu affected by amnzinn' works of grace, They are up without a callin' hustlin' off to feed the stock, And they're puttin' all their coppers in an old gray woolen sock.

Mother sez to me this morniu' we wuz talkiu' 'bout the thing it's been thirty years this summer since I wore this weddin' ring, I ain't asked for much vacation, I've been happy toilin long, But I'm goia' to Shee-talk-way till I get plumb drunk with song. "All my life I've been jist hungry for to hear sbm things like this, there ain't a thing that's comin' thet I jest can beur to miss, I 'spose there are a lot of things I ought to do that week, But I want to hear them singers sing and hear them speakers speak." Gosh, it seems that those old eyes hev been almighty blind, I ain't been no hard taskmaster, I hev wanted to-be kind, But a sort of grippy feelin' ketcbed my heart to beat the band When I seen the calloused place on her quiverin', wrinkled! hand. Then I though about that mornin' when we left the parson's place, Comin' up here to my clcarin' I kud Bee her smilin' face I kud hear her voice a singin sweeter'n a meadow InrkA 'Non I reached and tuk her hand in mine, jes like we used ro spark. And I sez, "Molly, by cracky, you get fixed to go to town, I'm jes achin' fer to buy ye a brand new Hhee-talk-wny gown I've been selfish, I'll admit it. I've a lot of things to rue.

I have thot a heap for Henry and I oin't that much fer you, "But we'll take in this Sihee-talk-way if the whole plantation skids. It will make this year worth livin' fer yerself and fer the kids. I 'spose there are some things to do, but dem 'em, let 'em rest Till we git the inspiration, then we'll tackle 'em with Dog-goned if she wuzun't cryin', fuss'm' with her ring, As she says, "I've alius wanted just to hear somobody sing, Somebody to give expression to tho music of my life That's beeu hummin' through my heart-strings ever since I've been you wife." Then I swnllered bard and snid I guess I'd better feed the stock, I kud hear the birds a-singin' with tho tic.kin' kitchen clock; All around outdoors wuz sunshine, trubble all seemed gone and, say, We'll be like a pair of lovers goiu' to that sbee-talk-way.
