24-year-old airline stewardess who charged that the infielder assaulted her on a flight to Detroit last April Mrs Susanne NIondlin of Roosevelt NJ declared in papers filed in the State Supreme Court that while she was serving coffee to members of the Boston team aboard a charter flight to Detroit Petrocelli "wilfully and indecently assaulted her" The stewardess who also is employed as a part-time model said that Petrocelli placed his arms around her "from the back grabbing her breasts with both hands" SHE SAID she freed herself from his grasp and continued her duties In the meantime she said the ballplayer returned to his seat for 15 minutes cursed her and made threatening gestures toward her Later the stewardess said while she was serving soft drinks Petrocelli kicked her in the leg causing her to spill the drinks on him and other passengers Petrocelli then punched the stewardess in the head she said knocking her across the aisle and against the seat backs She said Petrocelli attempted to strike her again but was 1 estrained by two passengers who pinned him against the seat 11 Press Wireohoto setting up a string of five straight birdies Arnie shot six-under-par 66 to share a trail of broken bodies in the NCAA playoffs but if the talk about SWC basketball becoming "competitive" rings true then perhaps they will scare Notre Dame Saturday night in Houston It would seem a golden opportunity for TCU Notre Dame has a solid nationally ranked (14th) quintet plus a big enough name and reputation to cause a seismic tremor should the Frogs pull an upset Allowing for the tendency to categorize Notre Dame athletic teams as supernatural and invincible over rate them the Irish have put together an impressive season They may be under rated in the polls They not only whipped UCLA (the Bruins insisted they were flat but beating a flat UCLA team is still no small miracle) but played tight games against national powers Marquette South Carolina and Indiana SIFFORD WINNER of two tour events but having his troubles that last two years was one of a large group at 68 Also at that figure were Lee Trevino Bobby Nichols Bob Murphy and about a dozen others HEARD FROM Visalia Calif is in his third year on the tour and hasn't finished higher than fourth in a major event But he won about $47000 with consistent play and moved into an exempt status at the end of the season Heard birdied his first two holes then bogeyed the next two missing the green each time Ile cut a four iron out of the woods to within a foot of the flag on the sixth and rolled in a 10-foot putt on the next hole Heard who started on the tour late in 1968 scored a two-putt bird on the 10th made it from six feet on the next went to five under par when a seven iron shot left him a five-footer on the 14th then tied Palmer on the 18th PALMER WINNER of the Bob hope Desert Classic but in trouble since then reeled off a string of five consecutive birds starting on the eighth Ile had a two-putt birdie on the 10th twice put irons within three feet and made putts of 8 and 12 feet for the others Ile went to six under with a two-putt bird on the 15th But he was far from happy Ile hit every green missed only two fairways and missed three birdie putts of eight feet or less plus at least five others he said could have been made "I could have shot a 62 or anything" he said '47 omma sears such as Oh and Shiegeo Nagashima earn six-figure paychecks Conference teams in past NCAA playoffs have been wiped out by rebounding deficiencies "That's where we got beat by New Mexico State last year" says Rice coach Don Knodel "You got to give TCU a chance against Notre Dame because the Frogs can get up there That was their strong point this season If they can get their share of the rebounds and shoot a decent percentage It'll be a great rebounding game Notre Dame has some big mooses" Forget about TCU having any "home" advantage even though the game is in Texas and there will be a Fort Worth representation "There is a feeling at Notre Dame" Ara Parseghian was saying last December "that we never play on foreign soil We have alumni and fans SHE SAID she fled to the cockpit of the plane where she remained until the plane landed and all the passengers disembarked Mrs Mond lin claimed in her court papers that the ball club was negligent because it had "knowledge of the
