In the divorced wife of one of the ne groes a sure enough fight took place yesterday afternoon near Col lege Station when Nero and Coleman Meekins proceeding to set tie their differences Meekins was hit oyer the head with a pistol by Nero according to Peace Officer Jolly who took the men in charge Meekins was brought to the Bryan Hospital for medical attention Of ficer Jolly this morning filed two charges against the fighters one for carrying a pistol and one for aggra vated assault The Aggie football squad coaches were given a banquet night at the Green Parrot Room by 'the business men of city of Bryan This is an annual affair and is alway looked forward to with a great deal of pleauroby the squad of Aggieland A large number were present on the occasion of the banquet and entertainment and the evening was thoroughly en joyed The program was opened by an invocation by Dr JnoAHeld of the irst Baptist church Miss Louise Martin gave a reading Usual followed by an interpretive dance by Miss Bes sie Ballerstedt airman of the Queen Theatre kindly loaned the Queen City Melodists cast to the banquet and they gave three num bers that were much appreciated The Aggieland Jazz Orchestra fur nished music throughout the evening There were but few speeches and they were short Toastmaster McAdams welcomed the guestsCap tain Bull Johnson of this year's team and retiring from captaincy and graduating from the college was called upon for a few remarks Then Miller next captain spoke briefly followed by House of the coaching staff After the banquet the Palace Theatre management extended the courtesy of reserved scats for those who at tended the banquet and they repair ed to that place Though late the curtain had been held for them until 8:30 o'clock Present at Banquet ollowing is a list of those pres ent at the banquet firet the Aggie The funcial of Mrs Hannah Gro ginsky beloved wife of Mr Joe Groginsky of this city was htM Thursday morning from the family residence corner west 27th street and Parker avenue Rabbi Henry Cohen of Galveston conducted the services at the home and at the grave the Bryan Chapter No 222 Order of the Eastern Star of which the deceased was a life long mem ber held the beautiful funeral serv ice of that Order The floral offer ings from many friends in this and other cities who knew and loved the departed one covered the casket and formed a mound of floral beau ty in the room at the home where the service was held and at the cemetery covered the new made grave as an expression of affection and consolation The1 pall bearers were: Joe Der den pioneer citizens of Bryan long since passed away She was born in Grimes county October 20th 1868 and came with her father's family to this city when a small child She was married to the late John Chance in Bryan and to their union was born one son John Chance Jr who died in infancy Deceased 'is survived by two brothers Ed Derden of Bryan and Will Derden of Houston and one niece Sire Jas James of this city for A sweet hristian spirit found rest and peace in the Heavenly home in the passing of Mrs Lillie Chance Gentle quiet always faithful to her ideals of right and righteousness and ministering to her loved ones with never a tiring devotion she endeared herself to all who knew her The world was made better be cause she has lived and of her it can be truly said lived for Like the
