This community experienced a severe shock last Monday when it was announced that Maj. J. P. Maj.

Jenkins at once wired that the body of his daughter be prepared for shipment and, in charge of Embalmer Abrons the remains reached this place Tuesday evening. A large crowd of sorrowing friends and acquaintances were in waiting at the train and accompanied the re mains to the Jenkins homestead near town, and watched beside the bier until two o'clock resterday afternoon when the interment took place, Rev. J. M. Benson performing the last sad rites in the presence of a large concourse of grlef-strickeu friends.

Probably no young lady in the county was better known and enjoyed a wider circle of friends than did Miss. Jenkins, and the hearts of the people throb in one great unison of sympathy for the be reaved parents. She was years of age and was a young lady of ex ceptlonally fine qualities, full of life and merriment, and when encircled by a host of friends her merry laugh, winning ways and pleasant vonver sation never allowed a' moment to lack its quote of pleasure. Her many were loath to part with bur several months ago when she accepted a position as one of the head clerks in one of the largest deoartment stores in the city of Baltimore. Her sad home-cuming now sends a- thrill of deepest uwo aud paiu to -the hearts of herdevoted parents and a host of friends.

There will be no cbaugo in the Clerk's office this as the people of Nash County have never done more honor to themselves and the office than when they made Thomas A. Sills that officer. The manner in which he has filled his position is above reproach and as an honored citizen of Nasb county, none staud higher or have a warmer place in the hearts of the people than Mr. Sills, who wilt continue business at the same old stand for another term.

This is the wish of the people and The Graphic doffs its hat to a worthy citizenship who will still hold on to "Tommie Whisperings From Whltakers. The Rural Delivery for Edgecombe is not iu operation yet, but it is expected soon. Mr. Howard Jones, of Wilson, was here on a visit to W. C.
