Hamilton Honored at Shower Miss Stella Hamilton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John L. Hamilton of 3420 East Broadway was the guest of honor at a pro-nuptial shower given Sunday by the Misses JoAnn and Rosemary Will at their home, 317 Cherry street. Gifts of a miscellaneous nature were arranged on a table decorated with dolls dressed to represent the members of the wedding party.

Decorations wore in a blue and white color scheme. Games were played and those receiving prizes were Miss Georgia Miller, Mrs. Lindsey, Mrs, Mather Reif, and Mrs. John L. Hamilton, After the gilts were opened and admired, refreshments were served by the hostesses.

Guests attending from out-of- town were Mrs. Ida Witt, Miss Nelle Witt, Mrs, Mather Reif, and Mrs. William Reif of Carrollton; Mrs. Frank Reif, Mrs. Pelmar Reif and Mrs.

Neil Witt of Eldred, and Miss Tula Staunton of Greenfield. Miss Hamilton's fiancee, James Witt, is stationed at Hickam Field, Hawaii. The couple plan to be married December 7, and will reside in an apartment in the Waikiki district. Miss Hamilton will depart for Honolulu December Olivia Hankins, nnd the late Walter Hankins, Lincoln Addition, East. Alton, to Joseph Henry Kilmer, son of Mr.

and Mrs. Joseph Henry Kilmer of Wood River avenue, East Alton. The couple's wedding will take place November 27. Mr. Kilmer and Miss Hankins are employed by the Equitable Powder Co.

Golden Wedding Anniversary Observed on Mr. and Mrs. George A. McKlriney of 807 Grove slrwt held open house Wednesday, afternoon evening, In observance of their fiftieth wedding anniversary, several hundred guests called to extend congratulations. Mr.

and Mrs. McKlnney were married at First Presbyterian Church before the Rev. H. K. Sanborne, and Mrs, McKlnney Is the former Miss Elizabeth Johnston Watson, Whose parents were Mr.

and Mrs. Henry Watson. Mr. and Mrs. McKlnney were assisted in receiving and entertaining by their daughters, Miss Suzanne McKinney and Mrs.

Nelson K. McBrien. Among those present at the reception were Mrs. Eugene A. Elwell and Mrs.

L. M. Carr, the latter a sister of Mrs. Mc- Klnney, who were bridesmaids at the wedding 50 years ago, and Lewis M. Carr, who was a groomsman.

Other members of the bridal party unable to attend the golden wedding celebration were Dr. Mather Pfeiffenberger, Alton, who was out of town, and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Davis of Evanston, 111. Mrs.

Carr is the former Miss! Grace Watson, and Mrs, Davis was Miss Emily Drury. Other members of the bridal party were the late John D. McAdams and John M. Peiffenberger. Mrs.

McKinney's bridal gown and Mr. McKinney's wedding Buit were displayed on mannequins in the home for the golden Wedding reception. The house was decorated with gift flowers, golden chrysanthemums and roses predominating. Pouring at an attractively decorated refreshment table, centered with a wedding cake, in the afternoon were Mrs. William H.

Towards the close of the evening refreshments were served by the hostess, and as guests were seated at the table, gifts were brought into the room and placed before Mrs, Joseph Bums. Ida Schmidt, Belleville, and Mrs. Harold Landoldt, Alhambra, have returned to their homes after attending the funeral on Monday of Fred J. Kratschmer. Charles A. Mayhall, 826 Henry street, spent the week-end in Champaign-Urbana as the guest of his daughter, Miss Sharon R.

Mayhall, a senior at the University of Illinois. Mr. Mayhall and his daughter attended Dad's Day festivities and Illinois-Purdue football game in Memorial Stadium Saturday. Mr. nnd Mrs.

C. 0. Jungk of St. Louis, formerly of Alton, attended a reception given Wednesday night in observance of the golden wedding of Mr. and Mrs.

George A. McKinney. Pvt. Gerald Keith Eppel of the Signal Corps is stationed as clerk In the finance department at Verdun, France. He was inducted in service August 4, 1952, and completed a course at Fort Monmouth, N.

September 16, 1953. After spending two weeks with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Eppel, 1223 Fairway drive, Pvt. Eppel went to Camp Kilmer, N.

and on October 16 sailed for Europe, arriving at Brcmerhaven, Germany, October 28. From Brem- enhaven Eppel, a former, bookkeeper at First National Bank and Trust went to Verdun. Area Historical Society Annual Meeting Sunday Annual meeting of the Alton Historical Society will he held Sunday, November 8, 2 p.m., at HasteH House. Commemorating Fifty Years of Aviation will be the topic for the program, and Mrs. H.

E. Wlnans will review "The Spirit of St. Louis" by Charles A. Lindbergh. Officers will be elected.

Persons interested in the histofy of the area are urged to attend. Elizabeth street, and plans will be made for a Christmas party. Prospective Bride Honored Wednesday Mrs Al W. Schlitt and Miss Theresa Florl entertained with a pre-nuptial party Wednesday night honoring Miss Johanna Wardein, prospective bride of Al J. Echele.

The party was at the home of Mrs. Schlitt's brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas C. Jun, 1008 McKinley boulevard.

Monte Carlo whist was played for an hour or so and prizes were received by Mrs. Anthony Mrs. Max Hiendlmayr, Miss Wardein, Mrs. Phil Schneble and Miss Margaret Gorman. A gift for use in her new home was presented to the bride-elect.

Decorations included dolls representing a bride and bridegroom beneath an arch trimmed with wedding bells and flowers. Bouquets of flowers flanked the centerpiece and behind the table was a mirror. Crepe paper streamers were also included in the party appointments. Favors were small bridesmaids dolls. Refreshments were served at tho close of the evening by the hostesses, Approaching Marriage Announcement Mr.

and Mrs, Charles Young of Lincoln drive, Cottage Hills, entertained with a party Saturday night and during the evening announcement was made of the approaching marriage of Mrs. Young's brother, Carl E. Castleberry and Miss Bornadette Simpson. The couple will be married November 21 at the Young home. Mr.

Castleberry is the son of Mrs. Mamie Castleberry of White Hall, and is employed as a truck driver at Hillview. The bride-to-be is the daughter of Perry Simpson of Cottage Hills. She is employed by the Owens- Illinois Glass Co, Mr. and Mrs.

Alvin C. Krallmatin nf Staplehnrst, are parents of daughter, whom they have named Mary Ann. The baby, their first rhild, was born Nov. 1, in Reward Memorial Hospital, Sew- nrd, weighing six pounds, nine ounces. Mrs.

Krallmann, the former Miss Evelyn Johnson, Is a daughter of Mrs. E. D. Johnson, 3.319 College avenue. Mr.

Krallmann until the first of the year was a teacher in Messiah Lutheran School, Alton. Mr. and Mrs. Donald L. Carter, 71 West, drive, East Alton, are announcing the birth of a daughter nt 3:48 a.m.

Wednesday in Wood River Township Hospital. She weighed seven pounds and 12 ounces, and has been given the name of Gail Ann, Mr. and Mrs. Carter have a son, Steven Alan, 3. Mr.

Charles Gillespie of 2502 Kohler street, are parents of their third child and second daughter. The baby, weighing eight pounds and nine ounces, was born at 4 :58 a.m. today in St. Joseph's Hospital. Their other children are Patrick, 12, and Karen, 9.

The name of Timothy Scott has been chosen by Mr. and Mrs. Earl Herrin 'of 905 Alton street, for their first son and child. The baby was born at 5:32 a.m. today in St.

Joseph's Hospital, weighing eight pounds, nine ounces. Mrs. Herrin was before her marriage, Miss Bonnie McOwan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.

R. McOwan of Alton. Their third child, a son, Dale, was born at 12:54 a.m. today- in St. Joseph's Hospital to Mr.

and Mrs. Dale RagUf of 467 Sixth street, Wood RiveT. The baby weighs 10 pounds, eight ounces. Mr. and Mrs.

Ragus have two other children, Roxanne, 3, and Arlene, 18 months. Arleen is a post polio patient at Alton Memorial Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Robert DeRoy of Rt.

1, Alton, have announced the birth of their fifth child and daughter. The baby was born at 9:29. p.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph's Hospital, weighing seven pounds and five ounces.

A daughter, weighing eight pounds and five ounces, was born at 6:22 p.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph's Hospital to Mr. and Mrs. Harold L.

Drainer, 529 Leslie Wood River. A seven pound and nine ounce son was born at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph's Hospital to Mr. and Mrs.

Rolfe Johnson of 1304 Belle street. A son, weighing seven pounds and four ounces, was born at 7:16 a.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph's Hospital to Mr. and Mrs.

Melvin Labryere of Kane. Announcement has been made by Mr. and Mrs, Billy Martin of Meadowbrook of the birth of a son, their fourth child. The baby was born at 9:24 p.m. Wednesday in Alton Memorial Hospital, weighing eight pounds and eight ounces.

Junior Service League Bazaar Officers Elected Friday at Godfrey Civic Center By OES Chapter Lodges Alton Rebekah Lodge will meet Friday night, and complete plans for a card party to take place November 14. Broadwoy Dial 3-8877 Although most of the members of the Junior Service League have been kept busy the past weeks preparing for the League's Country Fair dance and bazaar, the year around activities of the league must still be carried on including transporting children to and from the Madison County Clinic for the Crippled, and conducting a weekly art class at Alton State Hospital under the direction of Mrs. M.

R. Weslover, head occupational therapist. These art classes have proven successful for the patients have shown interest in their weekly session. The pictures above portray but two of the many activities carried on daily by members of the Junior Service League. The league, a fairly new organization in Alton, has found that the work it is doing has been made easier by the splendid cooperation of parents, teachers, doctors, therapists and other organizations.

The object of the Junior Service League is to develop young svomen to qualify themselves through training and active work to become intelligent and helpful members of their community and although the greatest number of members art housewives and mothers, they fine it inspiring and satisfying to give what spare time they have to others help themselves, The one fund-raising event pi the year given by the league and which is essential to carrying on its work, will be held Friday, November 6 at the Godfrey Commu- nity Center. Gifts, hand-made by the league members, will be available, as well home-made goodies, pies, cakes, and cookies, preserves- and jellies. Games of skill, darts and other country fair games will be managed by the husbands of the members who are being pressed into service on this occasion. The games and bazaar will start at 7 p.m. and at 9 p.m.

an orchestra will play for all those who wish to'stay for dancing. Some tickets are still available from Mrs. E. K. Duvivier, ticket chairman and treasurer of the Junior Service League.

Churches Unity Study Class meets on Thursdays, 7:30 p.m., at Mineral Springs Hotel. Plans were made for a public installation of officers-elect on Wednesday evening, November 11, at the Masonic Temple on State street.

Officers-elect will. have a installation rehearsal Sunday at 2 o'clock, and Mrs. George Neun- reiter of Granite City, grand lecturer, will be present. Mrs. Norval Mitchell was elected associate worthy matron; Louis Mohler, associate worthy patron; Mrs.

Wesley F. Hinderhan, secretary; Mrs. R. W. Metzger, treasurer; Mrs.

William Gushing, conductor; Mrs. Vernon Sigler, associate conductor. Handkerchief shower was given in honor of Mrs. Edward Hogue, retiring worthy matron, and Howard Colburn, retiring worthy patron. Yearly reports were presented during a stated meeting which was preceded by a covered dish dinner.
