least two hands from each state on the route Comoyer said he drew his inspiration for the drive from Lonesome Dove the Larry McMurtry novel that was made into a TV mini-series In Lonesome Dove two way it used to be" With a budget of S25 million organizers are working to round up corporate sponsors to furnish money and in-kind services Several sponsors have already signed on including the Organizers of the Great American Cattle Drive are looking for a few good cowhands veterans accustomed to spending all day in the saddle for a seven-month 1700-mile drive to Miles City Mont next year But they're also planning to take along some paying tourists as they reenact the great I 9th-century trail drives that moved Texan and Mexican cattle to the railheads and slaughterhouses of the Midwest and the rangeland of Wyoming and Montana The drive which is to begin March 2 at the Stockyards will follow portions of five historic cattle trailg beginning with the Chisholm Trail from Fort Worth and ending with the Texas Trail into Miles City The route passes through Texas Oklahoma Kansas Ne 1 i weekly city officials said Every 10000 residents in Fort Worth generate in a week enough is over and above the actual cost of the land" He said legislation outlawing cities' putting grass clippings in landfills is being prepared for the next session of the Texas Legislature The Texas Agricultural Extension Service advocates leaving grass clippings on lawns as a source of nutrients for the grass The agency says the clippings are 90-percent water and dissolve back into the soil Worth Symphony early yesterday morning Representatives of the orchestra's management and the players union expressed satisfaction with the agreement which will guarantee an expanded season and pay raises over the next three years for full- and part-time musicians The most significant aspect of the contract is the expansion of the symphony's season The 36 full-time musicians who form the Fort Worth Chamber Orchestra were guaranteed 40 weeks of work a year under the old contract which expired at the end ofJune Under the new contract they will be paid for 42 weeks in the 1990-91 season 44 weeks in the 1991-92 season and 46 weeks in the 992-93 season Along with pay for the extra weeks the musicians also will receive a minimum raise of 5 percent (higher if the Austin radio stations mixing signals in rare deal local operation to program more than one station without violating laws against ownership of more than one station in the same market Spur Capital president Don Kuykendall
