It is difficult to keep pace with the removals from office, as publicly announced, and still more so to ascertain and register those which art not.announc-ed, but incidentally heard of.

George Macdaniel, John Macdaniel, Ezekiel Mac-daniel, John B. Martin, Levin Belt, and Orris S. Paine, are removed from the Office of the Auditor. Benjamin Homans is removed from the office of .1 me oecreiary or tne JNavy. Some other removals of Clerks in public offices have taken place.

The only one which we are sure of is that of Mr.Thomas B. Pottuiger, a highly i-es-pectable Clerk in the Office of the- Fifth Auditor. Another Editor "rewarded." George W. Hill, editor of the Vermont Patriot (a violent partizan paper) and brother of the 2d Comptroller of the Treasury, has been appointed Postmaster at Montpelier, in place of Mr. Vail removed.

On Friday and Saturday, it appeared that- several prommissory notes, negotiated by him, were forge nes. One of Parmelee's clerks also attended, and afforded much information. It was his opinibn that the amount of spurious paper issued could not be Jess than 30,000 dollars.

Parmelee had forged the signatures of nearly all his customers, after his absconding, there was found in his desk a very large amount of paper "of his creating, on a variety of individuals which, it was supposed, he intended palminer off. On Wednesday afternoon, just, before his departure, and after the closing of the banks, he! disposed of checks to a large amount.
