can beat "a mighty fine Louisiana State team that lost some games and its high rating when injuries struck but came back in style" By Associated Press Big State Conference teams holding a 21-20 edge over outside opposition will participate In three tournaments this week I DALLAS Coaches of the Cotton Bowl Broyles of Arkansas and Charles McClendon of Louisiana it's a good idea to delay the naming of the national champion college football team until after the bowl games Not that McClendon has high hopes of winning "My record 7-3 would work against us even if we should beat Arkansas" he explained "But we are happy that we're going to be one of the teams that could help decide it We also consider it a great privilege to play an undefeated great team like Arkansas" be able to do it this time since they've changed the plan and name the champion after the bowl games" "WE ARE GOING to be highly conscious of the fact that we might win the national championship with a good showing" he said "But the main thing is that Arkansas wants to win the game which could be a difficult assignment indeed "Other than Texas it is the only strong running team we have faced this season All others had the pass as a basic weapon and we didn't have to do much defending against running" He said he had studied films of all of Louisiana State's games in preparing for the Jan 1 event when he sends his Razorbacks against the mighty ground attack of the resurging Tigers McCLENDON TIAS studied films of Arkansas' games too "I know that after looking at films you get quickness and speed confused" said McClendon "but Arkansas has both And that's what separates them from the other teams We must try to control the ball if we are to have a chance against Arkansas" He was not ready to concede defeat although he said Arkansas certainly should be the favorite I 4t 41t ARKANSAS HAS a 22-game winning streak working the longest in major college football and would seem the Razorbacks somber judgment of Baltimore Colt Coach Don Shula after his team was edged 13-10 in a sudden death overtime by the Green Bay Packers Sunday Shula's pronouncement was offset by Colt owner Carroll Rosenbloom who was very definite in his feelings over the setback in the National Football League's Western Conference Championship game "I was never more proud of any team I've had" said Rosenbloom "We didn't deserve to I lose There was no justice out there today" Shula said the Colts had no reason to be ashamed of the loss and refused to single out any one player for praise or criticism "We gave it our best shot We gave it everything we had" Shula explained to the crowd of reporters that no one play made by his team caused the loss "You can't go into a game like this without a Johnny Unitas or a Gary Cuozza and expect to do the same things offensively that you've been doing all season long" Both Unitas and Cuozzo missed the game because of injuries and the burden of calling
