We were all crying, waving and feeling a little sad that this most spectacular trip of all time was over." "We tried to find our continued Mrs. Brunner, "but it was impossible. We found out later that they had arrived at the pier at 8:30 a.m. We docked about noon time, and it was nearing drak before we arrived home. My husband phoned us aboard ship and we finally met them.

It takes time to clear luggage and attend to last minute added Mrs. Brunner. As Mrs. Brunner related some of the most interesting incidents of her 'once in a lifetime" trip, she sparkled with enthusiasm, almost making those around her feel that they too had taken this remarkable journey. tine's days activities a-board the floating city, there were such events as swimming, soccer, bowling, deck sports and table tennis, Spanish lessons, dancing lessons, recorded concerts, night entertainment, movies, and sundry other events to suit the most particular taste.

"One of the daily events which we so much enjoyed was the typical English tea and cakes in the afternoon," stated Mrs. Brunner. "Served in typical English style, even to the beautiful damask cloths, we looked forward each day to tea-time," she mused. NEXT STOP ON THE itinerary was Las Palmas and then on to Rio de Jan-eior, which, according to Mrs. Brunner, was absolutely fantastic.

They spent about three days in the delightful place with its famed Copacabana Beach and mosaic tiled Cape for the first time, blew his whistle as they made the historic turn, the sun broke through like magic and we witnessed one of the most beautiful sights ever to be seen. It will live with us the rest of our lives. We could not help brushing away a few tears at that spectacular sight." THE NEXT STEP of the trip was Valpariso, which according to Mrs. Brunner, was an interesting but poverty stricken city. However, she and Mrs, Maher enjoyed the old Spanish influenced styled buildings.

Then on to Balboa in Panama, where our visitors found the climate most humid and uncomfortable, although they enjoyed the many historic sights such as The Locks. San Dimas avenue, San Dimas, and her cousin, Mrs. James Ma-her (nee Mary Walker) of Claremont have returned home after the fabulous last cruise of the Majestic Queen Mary. The exciting, fascinating cruise, which began for them in Southampton, England, was filled with memorable adventures, never to be relived as the Queen Mary made her last trip to Long Beach, where she will remain as a sight-seeing tourists' paradise. As soon as word was released regarding the Queen Mary last voyage. The Brunners made reservations for the entire trip for Mrs.

Brunner and Mrs. Walker. They flew from Los Angeles to Southampton where they spent a few days sight-seeing before boarding the ship. Then the great day came, the day when the thirty-nine day sea voyage was to begin. The two travelers, along with 1200 others, experienced one of the most dramatic moments of the entire cruise on that day.

THE ENGLISH FAREWELL to her Queen was fantastic, according to Mrs. Brunner. The sentimental emotions of the people watching and the travelers boarding the ship and finally the departure from the shores of Southampton were infectious and Mrs. Brunner and Mrs. Maher joined the other in shedding a few tears.

All along the shores were boats, large and small, British Naval vessels turned out en masse to bid farewell to their Queen," and it was a sight to remember forever. OUR TRAVELERS found their staterooms simply deluxe in way. Contrary to imp- -ressions released by a few of the tourists the service, the exquisite cuisine and completely luxurious manners of everyone from the stewards to the Captain himself were impeccable. "We never wanted for a commented Mrs. Brunner.

"My cousin and I had a marvelous stateroom. The food was wonderful, and we never saw a rat or cockroach such as was reported in some of the newspapers added Mrs. Brunner. "Of course everyone who boarded the ship knew in advance that the public rooms such as the dining rooms and lounges were not air-conditioned for tropical conditions such as we experienced. "Even then," she continued, "it was not too uncomfortable.

And we were never without fresh water', she added. Mrs. Brunner excitedly recounted some of the wonderful highlights of the trip and the Queen Mary. She described the staterooms as having every convenience and some of the finest, most beautiful wood paneling she has ever seen. The carpeting was luxurious and expec-ially woven for Che Queen Mary.

THE FIRST NIGHT out a terrific storm broke in the Atlantic, and as the ship headed into the Channel, the tourists experienced very severe weather which delayed the Queen's arrival in Lisbon by ten hours. First stop on the forty day voyage was Lisbon, a spot which will always be a favorite to our travelers. The "loved the quaint combination of old and new with charming houses and narrow winding cobble stoned streets. The gaiety of the City and the friendly people in it will always be another happy chapter to our travelers' book of memoirs. Then came the most exciting, most dramatic and breathtaking highlight of the entire trip-the approaching of the Cape Horn. As the Queen approached the Cape, Mrs. Brunner had this to say: "It was cold and bleak and gray as we turned the bend. Most everyone was on deck to witness this exciting event.

Just as the Captain, who was also making the trip around the Beach. This favorite resort was enjoyable to our travelers with all of its bright and wonderful places. Then the day came, on Saturday, December 9, when the Queen would travel its last leg of the long journey home to Long Beach. As the Queen approached the last lap of the trip into the harbors, the Pacific was studded with ships of every description, U.S. Navy vessels, small privately owned bo-ate, fire boats with colored sprays and hundreds of other small craft.

"It was a glorious si- we will never forget. The typical Cunard service, gourmet food and excellent entertainment made us feel we were part of A royal party."
