Mackey died at hta residence in this city thia morning, aged forty -two years. Robert W. Mackey, whose term as Treasurer of Pennsylvania expired Apnl 20, 1876, was born Pittsburg 1837. He was educated that city and at an early age entered a banking house, Which he afterward left to enter the Allegheny Bank of Piltsberg as a clerk. In 1803 be became cashier of tbe latter institution, and in 1871 be was elected vice president, a position he held at the time of his death.

In 1869 be waa elected State Treasurer by tbe Pensylvama Legislature. In 1870 he was defeated for re-eieotion by the same body, but was again elected in I87I and 1872. When the office was made elective by the people, he waa elected aa a Republican in 1873, to serve two yeere from the first Monday of May, 1674.
