Sports The network signed long-term deals with the NFL and NBA acquired big-league baseball this Super Bowl and the 1996 Summer Olympics and got to televise a Florida State-Notre Dame matchup that was the highest-rated regular-season college football telecast since 1981 And Saturday NBC got another dose of good fortune: An Orange Bowl that was expected to be one-sided proved so compelling and dramatic that the ratings should be terrific A competitive game plus a fine performance by No 1 NFL team including announcers Dick Enbcrg and Bob Trumpy made it a thoroughly successful evening for NBC NBC took the correct approach by concentrating on the head coaches whose pursuit of a national title was one of the biggest stories NBC repeatedly gave us reaction shots from Bobby Bowden and Writers Auburn Coach Terry Bowden was in the Orange Bowl stands Saturday night to watch his father Florida State Coach Bobby Bowden try to win his first national championship And Terry wasn't happy about being there at all rather be back at the hotel watching the game on TV to tell you the Terry Bowden said "I just get nervous here what my brother Tommy offensive coordinator has done he wants to
