I'm sure advances will outnumber declines THERE!" THE BORN LOSER "Another nice thing about this car.. .by the time you get it in running order the gas shortage should be over!" Art Sansom MAT DO toU MjC, BUGS BUNNY QUESTION: What is a peccary'.' # * * ANSWER: A peccary is a wild pig-like animal. There are two species, the collard peccary of Central America north to Arizona and the white lipped peccary of the American tropics. They are the only swine indigenous to America. The peccary looks like a slender, active hog. It has a coarse, grizzled coat and a very short tail. It has a gland on its back which gives off a very strong musk when the animal is excited. For this reason, many people call the animal the musk dog. Peccaries are forest dwellers. They are sociable animals, living in herds. Shy animals by nature, they flee from danger. Like domestic swine, they are not particular about food but will eat anything available. Their common natural enemy is the jaguar. Peccary flesh is considered good eating, particularly if the animals feed on acorns. Many of the "pigskin" jackets, gloves, pocketbooks and other accessories are made from the skin of the peccary. ^' **»- ' (Debra Ellison of Savannah, Georgia, wins a prize for this question.
