and Barbara Ann Christensen Rowe. She receive: her education in Spanish Fork schools. She married Forrest I B. Withers. She was a member of the L.DS Church.

She is survived by her husband, Newcastle, three brothers and four sisters, Reed C. Rowe, Glenn O. Rowe, Nes. James (Genevieve) Howes and Mrs. Roy W.

(Fern) Hanson, all of Spanish Fork; Don W. Rowe and Mrs. M.E. (Reva) Lundberg, both of Elko, and Mrs. Harvey K.

(ZaVon) Harkness, Alamo, Calif. Funeral services will be Saturday in the Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, Auburn, Calif. Graveside services will be held Monday at in Spanish Fork City Cemetery at 11 a.m. Vera S. Bishop HINCKLEY, Millard County Vera Swenson Bishop, 75, Hinckley, died Tuesday in Paysor of natural causes.

She was born March 22, 1898 in Moroni, a daughter of Peter and Sylvania Lowery Swenson. She married Heber Grant Bishop on Dec. 18, 1919 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Surviving are her husband, sons and daughters, Jay H. Bishop, Orem; Mrs.

Melvin (Helen) West and Mrs. Arnold (Arlene) Heckler, both cf El Lars M. Bishop, Payson; Clarence R. Bishop, Rapid City, S.D.; Mrs. Richard (Dorthela) Knott, Mrs.

Robert (Louise) Carling, Mrs. Paul (Sylvia) Miller and Mrs. William (Janith) Clark, all of Bountiful, and Loury F. Bishop, Fruita, 36 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Randle Swenson, L.R. Swenson, and Mrs.

Jenave Chapman, all of Hinckley, and Mrs. Lila Witbeck of Sterling, Sanpete county. Funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Hinckley LDS Ward chapel. Friends may call at the Ward Reiief Society room Saturday from 9:30 to 11 a.m.

McIntosh Services were held today at 11 a.m. in the Palmyra Stake House, with interment in Provo City Cemetery. A. W. 'Bill' Bowers Arthur William "Bill" bowers, 52, of 1103 W.

860 N. Provo, died Tuesday at the Utah Valley Hospital of a heart attack. He was a comptroller at Walker Bank's central office in Salt Lake City at the time of his death. He was born Nov. 3, 1920 in Spanish Fork, a son of Arthur J.

and Vera Eliza Martell. He never married. received his early education in Spanish Fork and Provo, graduating from Provo High School in 1938. He worked at Calders Ice Cream Co. for a time, then entered the U.S.

Army in 1942, serving in the European Campaign and in the South Pacific. Following his discharge, he worked for a time with Farmers and Merchants Bank, which later became Walker Bank He had transferred to the Salt Lake main office about three months ago. He was an active member of the LDS Church and had held many positions. He also had held several offices in banking organizations in both county and state capacities. He enjoyed gardening, reading and traveling.

Surviving is a brother, Howard M. Bowers, Provo. Funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. in the Berg Drawing Room chapel, Provo, with Bishop Boyd Jarman officiating. Friends may call at the mortuary Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m.

and Monday one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Spanish Fork City Cemetery Mabel S. Downey LOS ANGELES, Calif. Mabel Storrs Frazee Downey, 79, former resident of Springville and Salt Lake City, died Thursday, in a Los Angeles natural causes. She was born Sept.

4, 1893 in Springville, a daughter of John Wallace and Prunella Reylance Storrs. She married Howard Frazee and later was divorced. She married Karl Downey and he survives her. She was a musician and member of the LDS Church. Surviving are her husband and a sister, Mrs.

Norma Pratt, Los Angeles. Funeral will be Monday at 11 a.m. in the Wilshire LDS Ward chapel, Los Angeles. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. LaVor Allison SALT LAKE CITY LaVor Allison, 58, of 153 Garden Park Circle, died Tuesday in a Salt Lake City hospital of natural causes.

He was born Dec. 1, 1914 in Heber City, a son of Orson and Amanda Laverna Rooker Allison. He married Mary Archer on May 14, 1938 in Coalville. He was a retired employee of United Park City Mines, a former resident and city councilman of Park City, and a member of the LDS Church. Surviving are his widow, son and daughter, Dee F.

Ellison, Las Vegas, and Mrs. Thomas (Kay) Shannon, Springfield, five grandchildren; brothers and sisters. Lorenzo and John B. Allison, both of Salt Lake City; Mrs. La Vell (Ida) Goff, Tooele, and Mrs.

Lawrence (Irene) Evans of McGill. Nev. Funeral services will be Saturday noon in the Park City Third LDS Ward chapel. Friends may call at 260 E. South Temple today from 6 to 8 p.m.

She died Wednesday at a local hospital of natural causes. In addition to the list of survivors which appeared in the obituary Thursday, she is survived by four sisters, Edith Sorensen, Ahtell, Sanpete County: Mary Henrie, Tjunga, Eva Harward, Provo, and Elsie Virginia Shorthill, Provo. Burial will be in the Provo City Cemetery.

Provo Zone Change Hearing Set At Springville SPRINGVILLE A public hearing has been scheduled for Monday at 5 p.m. in the council chambers of the Springville Civic Center, 50 South Main to consider the rezoning of a portion of the R-3 residential zone to the 0-1 overlay zone with permits commercial uses. The area affected is the east half of the block bounded by Main Street on the west, 700 South Street on the north, 100 East Street on east, and 800 South Street on the south.

The area in the vicinity of the Jefferson School had previously been turned down as a possible commercial site. All persons interested are invited to voice ebjections OF recommendations relating to the requested change. Melvin C. Harward MIDVALE Melvin Coy Harward, 54, of Midvale died Wednesday in Valley West Hospital, Granger, of Cancer. He was born Jan.

17. 1919 in Aurora, Sevier County, a son to Melvin and Jeannette Crosland Harward. On Feb. 11, 1940 he married Goldie Mortensen in Mayfield, Sanpete County. They later were divorced.

He was educated in the Provo school system at Parker School, Farrer Jr. High, and at Provo High School, graduating in 1937. While in high school he belonged to the photography club and helped compile the yearbooks for 1935, '36, and $37. In his senior year he played center on the basketball team. He began working in grocery stores when he was 14 years old with Ralph Hayward on East Center Street in Provo.

He worked with Safeway for some time and was employed for 21 years by Paul Ream in Salt Lake City. He was a member of the LDS Church. Survivors include his mother, Provo: two grandchildren; a brother and a sister, Mrs. Raymond (Naoma) Kliever, Dallas, and Mrs. LaVell Harward, Inglewood, Calif.

Funeral services will be in the Berg Drawing Room Chapel, Provo, Saturday at p.m. Friends may call at the mortuary Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday an hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Provo City cemetery. Beatrice L.

State, Orem, 225-3001 SPANISH FORK Beatrice Lilly Tadd West, 87, died today in a Utah County convalescent home of a lingering illness. She was born Dec. 11, 1885 in Cardiff, Wales, England, a daughter of Thomas and Emma Kate Coombs Tadd.

She married John William West in Spanish Fork on Oct. 11, 1904. The marriage was solemnized Nov. 9, 1910 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died July 5, 1951.

She came from England to Utah as a convert to the LDS Church when she was 13 years old. She resided in Spanish Fork most of her life. She was educated in Spanish Fork schools and was active in the LDS Church. Survivors include three sons and two daughters, William A. West, Provo; Theron T.

West and Eldon T. West, both of Spanish Fork; Mrs. Hazel (Beatrice) Curtis, Provo, and Mrs. Russell (Lilly Mae) Hammon, Spanish Fork: two half-sisters, Mrs. Rulon (Amelia) Gull, Spanish Fork.

and Mrs. Lester (Doll) Averett, Springville: a half-brother, Aubrey Tadd, Spanish Fork; 18 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. 300 Provo, died today in a Provo rest home of causes incident to age. She was born Feb. 29, 1888 in Spanish Fork, a daughter of Zenos Peter and Annie Farr Romeril! On Sept. 24, 1908 she married William Cox in Provo. He died in 1951.

Her son, William Cox, Orem, was killed in an automobile accident last Friday. She was educated in the Spanish Fork school! system and resided in Eureka after her marriage until 1914 when she moved to Provo. She was a member of the LDS Church serving as a visiting reacher in the Relief Society. Her hobbies included flower raising, ceramics and china painting. She also collected teapots.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Arthur T. (Jean) Hansen, Shoshone, daughter-in-law, Mrs. William A. (Bernice) Cox, Orem; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a sister, Annie Masters Berry, Auburn, and a half-sister, Irva Brooks, South Gate, Calif, Graveside services will be at Spanish Fork Cemetery 2 p.m.

GENOLA Spencer Kimball, president of the Quorum of Twelve of the LDS Church, will speak and offer the dedicatory prayer al the dedication of the Genola Ward meetinghouse Sunday at 2p.m. The new chapel built at a cost of approximately $400.000 replaces the one mysteriously burned two years ago this month.

Bishop Glade Draper noted that the old building burned to the ground just three days prior the beginning of planned remodeling. The present structure's contract was awarded to Vincent Construction Co. in March of 1972. Groundbreaking took place later that same month. Gerald Thomas was chairman of the building committee and the necessary funds for building the church were raised in period of 18 months through individual donations and work projects.

The completed building will house the activities of the Genola Ward which presently numbers in excess of 400 members. Mary D. B. Evans OGDEN Mary Dale Beck Evans, 74, Ogden, former Spanish Fork City Recorder, died Wednesday in 8 local hospital of natural causes. She was born in 1899 in Spanish Fork, a daughter of Morgan and Annie Rowe Beck.

She married Joseph Evans on May 27, 1917 in Spanish Fork. The marriage later was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He died on Jan. 1, 1935. She had lived in Spanish Fork most of her life, but moved to Ogden 17 years ago.

She was educated in the Spanish Fork elementary and high schools and attended BYU and the University of Utah. She active in the Primary for 35 years and had been Sunday School coordinator and teacher. She had been on the stake Primary board of the Palmyra and Weber Stakes and had been a Relief Society visiting teacher. She had also been city recorder, city librarian and a government clerk in Fork and Provo. Surviving are one son and four daughters, Reed J.

Evans, Ogden, Mrs. Lee M. (Madge) Allan, Fountain Green: Mrs. Jack P. (Anna Daie) Loveless, Midvale; Mrs.

Don A. (Shirley) Housekeeper, Orem, and Mrs. Blair G. (Jeraldean) Milner, Salinas, and one sister, Mrs. Merrill D.

(Rowe) Binks, Spanish Fork. Funeral services will be Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Lindy Mortuary, Spanish Fork. Friends may call at Lindquist and Sons Mortuary, Ogden, tonight from to 8 o'clock and at the Lindy Mortuary in Spanish Fork Saturday from 11 a.m. to time of service.

Burial will be in the Spanish Fork Cemetery. Hattie W. Linschoten SALT LAKE CITY Funeral services for Hattie Wing Linschoten, 74, who died at her Salt Lake City home of natural causes Wednesday, will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at 255 S. 200 Salt Lake City.

A sister, Mrs. Thomas (Jenalyn)- Woffinden, lives in Lehi. She was born, Oct. 13, 1898 in Lehi, a daughter of George and Harriet Jacobs Wing. On Feb.

16, 1921 she married Christian Linschoten in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Survivors include her husband, a daughter and two sons, Mrs. William E. (Glenda) Kuhn, Dean C. Linschoten and Eldon K.

Linschoten, all of Salt Lake City; seven grandchildren, five sisters and a Mrs. Orvetta Adams, both of and brother, Mrs. Clara Russon Salt Lake City; Mrs. Woffinden. Lehi; Alva Wing, Sandy; Marvin Wing, Tooele; and Mrs.

Val (Georgia) Spencer, Riverton. Friends may call at 255 S. 200 Salt Lake City, on Saturday an hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Elysian Burial Gardens. DEDICATION OF THIS CHAPEL will take place Sunday at 2 p.m.

It is the Genola Ward meetinghouse and the dedicatory prayer will be deliveredy by Spencer W. Kimball, Ray A. Clark MYTON, Duchesne County Ray Afton Clark, 69, Myton, died Thursday in a Salt Lake City hospital of cancer. His son. Steven Clark, resides in Provo.

He was born April 24, 1904 in Burlington, a son of William Henry and Printha Downs Clark. He married Margaret Pierson in 1955, in Elko, Nev. He was a stockman and member of the LDS Church. Surviving are a son and daughters, Steven Clark, Provo; Mrs. Paul (Esther) Christensen, Murray; Sam (Barbara Rozeile, Wyoming; a stepson and step-daughters, Harold Buckingham, Rawlings, Mrs.

Don (Barbara) Withrow, Denver, and Mrs. Jack (Shirley) Andrews, Los Angeles, 17 grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and sisters, Mrs. Lucretia Shelton, Granger, Mrs. Edlean Abegglen, Roosevelt, and Mrs. Jessie Law, Payson.

Funeral will be Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Myton LDS Ward. Friends may call today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Olpin Mortuary, church Roosevelt, and at the Saturday one hour prior to services. Burial will be in Vernal.

Almon B. Bate OGDEN-Funeral Services for Almon Birdell Bate, 66, of Ogden, who died Wednesday at his home after a long illness, will be Saturday at noon in the Lindquist and Sons Colonial Chapel, Ogden. He was the father of two Utah County men. He was born Aug. 9, 1906 in Grant, to John Thomas and Maude Simmons Bate.

On May 28, 1930 he married Helen Bateman in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He was an engineer and owner of the Sewing Machine Center. Survivors include his widow, three sons and a daughter, Dr. A. Junior Bate, Walnut Creek, Larry B.

Bate, Orem; John Steven "Jack" Bate, Provo; and Mrs. Lynn (Luana) Stringham, Huntsville, Weber County; 22 grandchildren; two brothers and three sisters, DeLoy J. Bate, Reno, LaVerrel "Bill" Bate, Mrs. Ezra (Lillie) Weaver, Mrs. Harper (Thelma) 1) Billings and Mrs.

Bob L. Williams PRICE Bob L. Williams, 49, Price, died Thursday in a Price hospital after a long illness. A sister, Mrs. Earl (Shirley) Coker, lives in Springville.

He was born Feb. 26, 1924 in Bingham Canyon, a son of Robert and Stella E. Taylor Williams. He married Daphine Rowley on Aug. 26; 1960 in Las Vegas.

Nev. He was a former Price City police chief. Surviving are his widow and a son, Gregory Lamont, both of Price; sisters, Mrs. Coker, Springville, Mrs. George (Lorraine) Lee, Globe, and Mrs.

William (Edna) Busse, Charleston, Wasatch County. Funeral will be Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Mitchell Funeral chapel. where friends may call this evening and Saturday prior to services. Burial will be in the Price Cemetery.

Burial will be in the Price Thomas M. Gilbert ARCADIA, Duchesne County Thomas Martindale Gilbert. 77. Arcadia, died Wednesday in a Roosevelt hospital of a heart attack. His brother, John A.

Gilbert, resides in Provo. He was born Feb. 12. 1896 in Joseph, Sevier County, son of Leandrew Jackson and Eliza Jane Farnsworth Gilbert. He married Caroline Olsen on Oct.

18, 1922 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died June 8, 1972. He was a farmer and the first postmaster of Arcadia. He served as an LDS Bishop for 15 years and was Duchesne Stake Patriarch. He also was a veteran of World War I.

Surviving are his sons and daughters, Jack L. Gilbert, Royal Slope, Evelyn G. Mullins, Arcadia; Mrs. T. N.

(Naomi) Baldwin, Globe, Gayle G. Gilbert, Mildred Gilbert and Martha Gilbert, all of Arcadia; Rulon O. Gilbert, Twin Falls, Ida; 19 grandchildren: two great grandchildren; a brother sisters, A. Gilbert, Provo; Mrs. Edward (Minnie) Young.

Murray; Martha E. Shanks, Salt Lake City; and Mrs. Alfred (Alta) Hill, Bountiful. Funeral will be Saturday at p.m. in the Bridgeland LDS Ward chapel.
