Attempt to Monopolize WASHINGTON (AP) The Justice Department filed antitrust suits Thursday against the nation's two biggest tire manufacturers Goodyear and Firestone accusing them of attempting to monopolize the $2 billion consumer tire market The suits filed in US District Court in Cleveland accuse each firm of independently acquiring a virtual monopoly over the marketing of replacement tires
