Threatens Record Another defending champion Is the North Texas mile relay team which set a mark of 3:214 last year Another is Albert Mikeska of North Texas who tossed the javelin 198 feet 10 inches The javelin was new to the meet last year and the record is the "softest" of the lot The event will be continued this year in all divisions except the high school Other meet records in danger are the 440 the 120-yard high hurdles and the 880 along with others Red Barepeld of the University of Texas clicked off the quarter in 496 at Laredo The record here is 495 Roy Bucek of Texas skimmed the high hurdles in 147 and the record here is 143 by Boyce Gate-wood Boyce who has finished his eligibility at Texas will be back this week for a special high hurdle race- against six of the section's best (TURN TO PAGE 4 COL S) flashing gallops both from straight plays and on successful pass maneuvers All the stuff handed out so far was used by the many quarterbacks There was no effort to keep teams
