Kan In conformity to a sacred custom estab lished through the suggestion of the beloved Logan, by which the 30tl day of May Jn each year is set aside as Memorial day, a day upon which to pay our tribute of respect and honor to the memory of the fierofc dead, who died in defense of their country, and to strew with flowers the graves in which they sleep, the depart ment commander has issued his order calling upon all posts of the Grand Army of the Republic within his jurisdiction to properly observe May 30, 1900, as "Memorial day."
