12 The News said Von Mickwitz died after an operation on his eye He was formerly head of the music department of old Kidd-Key College at Sherman and dean of the Southern Methodist University music department Mickwitz who had been identified with Texas music circles for 40 years was feted during the Texas centennial when several hundred of his former pupils gathered to honor him at a Mickwitz Day program He was born in May 1859 After study and positions abroad he came to the United States to head the music department of Kidd College at Sherman in 1897 He was later head of the Bush
