SCHOOLS TIM'ltil 6A-5A-4A SCHOOLS Boyd Anderson The cross-7j 4 country team received a big lift at the District 7-6A race last Friday with the return of David Lopez the emergence of Courtney Chamber and the surprise of county junior-varsity champ Donnell Bowen Lopez missed the county race because of the flu but returned for district and placed ninth Chambers took runner-up honors raising to a new level and Bowen ran a steady race finishing 1 5th As expected Antwan Stanley won the county and district titles Cardinal Gibbons Lia Fuch fared well at the District 8-4A 45 cross-country race placing fifth overall and second for her team in 1 2:59 She was 1 1th at county Actually entering the county race most of the girls were bothered by various injuries and illnesses to such a degree that the team had not practiced for nearly two weeks But miraculously they still lined up ran and won the county race Reid Sinclair and Mike Werle ran well in the district race finishing ninth (17:41) and 12th (17:52) respectively Chaminade-Madonna 31 Isaac Bruce A star in the NFL Is having his first 1000-yard receiving season of his career Was the NFC Player of the Month in October Played at Memphis State Writer Lorenzo White was playing junior varsity football when Otis starting varsity running back went down with an injury In an effort to find a replacement Gray strolled into JV practice and spotted signed a letter of intent with the University of Miami Wednesday Coral Springs The and cross-country teams have an excellent shot at making state They are running well heading into Region 4-6A race at Amelia Earhart Park in Opa-Locka Lisa King was the third Colts finisher for the girls at district placing 12th overall Marci Johnson has improved finishing 19th in 13:55 Rikki Burton (15th) and Koray
