possibility that members of the Bandidos motorcycle dub were involved in the slaying But prosecutor Fred Rodriguez says the evidence is much stronger that club members were involved in the attempted slaying of Assistant US Attorney James Kerr Bandido informant Benton "Cowboy" Parrish who claims he told a federal grand jury about an assassination plot against Wood says he is not surprised that Rodriguez has denied knowing him "That's the way they've done me for two years" Parrish said Thursday in a telephone interview Parrish 28 told the Star-Telegra last week that he overheard members of the Bandidos planning the murder of federal judges He said the conversation occurred in Houston in February 1979 Wood was gunned down in the driveway of his San Antonio home last May Parrish said he told his story to a federal grand jury in San Antonio that investigated Wood's death and the attempted murder of Kerr When asked about the Star-Tele gra story Rodriguez said he had never heard of success for federal protection Prosecutors investigating the two shootings believe the attacks were ordered in connection with drug trafficking FBI documents produced in court have identified two Bandidos and one former club member as the prime suspects in the 1978 ambush of Kerr US Attorney Kerr who was heavily involved in investigating drug smuggling cases escaped a hail of bullets by ducking under the dashboard of his car Rodriguez said the evidence against the Bandidos is far stronger in the Kerr shooting than in the Wood case They haven't been completely discounted (in the Wood assassination) he said "However were are not nearly as firm in our belief about them being involved in the Wood case as we are in the Kerr case" Thechief prosecutor in San Antonio US Attorney Jamie
