Indy champion m'akes SCCA pit stop Indy SOME THREE weeks ago in an interview with the Star-Telegram Fort Worth's Johnny Rutherford explained the need for a split with USAC Unser cited the same grievences chapter and verse "It's not so much the economics" Unser said "but the failure of USAC to react to inflation economic changes and the changes in auto racing" Unser said the governing board had grown too big and too powerful A non-profit organization run for the members Unser said the officials had lost sight of the members' needs There were two alternatives "It would take too long to infiltrate the board by politics and make some necessary changes" Unser said The second al of CART back into the USAC fold Rutherford claims USAC will only be able to field "Foyt and the seven dwarfs They only have about eight cars We (meaning CART) have all the names" Unser won't go so far as to call the departure of Foyt a setback "It would be nice to have Foyt" said Unser while waiting for the first of six SCCA races to start Sunday "But if he's leaving I'd rather for him to be gone now We don't have to worry about where he'll be tomorrow know he's the type of person who would quickly up and leave It's really good to know who your foes and enemies are Besides AJ never sticks with anything very long anyway" Unser said Foyt's defection "isn't dissension among the people I'm tickled to death Everything's going great" 'STATE FARM STATE Mfill A WEDS THE DEST CAD AHD HOME 1115101110 INSURANC! Galles Albuquerque ---ir Chevrolet dealer Together they own a 04 to dealership in Phoenix Very seldom" smiled Unser asked 21 if he had many occasions to go to the BOBBY track as a pit boss and plain old racing UNSER fan In fact most extremely rare" UNSER AND GALLES have a race shop in Albuquerque "where you can do just about everything you can to a race car" When he isn't working and racing Unser said he likes to prepare engines as a hobby There'a also a professional standoff with Galles "I don't get to spend a lot of time with the dealership so I let Rick take care of business and I trade has announced a championship car schedule and their first race is March 25 There's a possibility Rutherford said Sunday that a real showdovm could come March 25 "Because of flooding in the Phoenix area some of the roads leading to the track have been washed out" said Rutherford "More than likely we'll race on the lith but any more rains could push the date up two weeks to March 25 and we'll
