Emporia Teachers College of Emporia Baker and Kansas Wesleyan tied for the 11)27 chiim-pionship Each team won six games and tied in a seventh The race in all probability was the last in the conference as it has been organized for a number of year with seven of the schools scheduled to withdraw to form a new athletic organization at the close of the present season The two Emporia schools ended the season today by playing to a scoreless tie Today was the first time in the history of the 35 encounters between the two colleges that one cr the other lias failed to emerge victor Baker closed its season here today by defeating Washburn 14 to 0 and Kansas Wesleyan trounced 5r Mary's on the latter's home fwld 20 to 0 to maintain its record of being the only one of the 17 members of the Nov 24 Randolph College Badgers crippled by the loss of Couch from their backfield took advantage of the breaks here Thursday afternoon and put over a 12 to 7 victory against Burleson College from Greenville But in doing' so they allowed their goal line to be crossed for the first time this season when Choate late in the game received a forward pass for 10 yards and then galloped 55 more for a touchdown The Badgers completed their first season under the leadership of Coach Monroe Sweeney undefeated The visitors presented a battling front that was almost wholly unexpected Two of the best ends seen on the local field this year were present in the persons of McGahaey fleet Indian and Campbell Captain Griffin at center was outstanding on both offense and defense Bird was the offensive and Phillips were the outstanding offensive stars while Captain Mould en Ilia ton and Perdue were the chief pillars of defense Manley had a big day at center and intercepted two passes when Burleson when a play came his way it was headed by plenty of interference but he was in the entire game He kept up his record of not having missed a minute of rlay in a game this season The quartet of athletes playing their last were given great ovations by the east stands packed with TJ students and supporters when replaced by subs during the closing period Mann got the greatest players crowding around to claap his hands slap bis back as the crowded stands roared goodbye to one of the greatest ball players of all time in this conference Not all of the eight departing 0 players got into the fray Williams played all the way and seemed to be the only sure tackier on his team Nasty Clark and Albert Acker did not get in on account of injuries Parrish Melton Steadman gave their best What Rags and who went into the game at center during the second period and Jake Williams also did well One of the most spectacular runs of the game and it was well filled with long dashes was made by Hume in the One was taken in by Dorsey with his left hand and almost impossibly held Dorsey made the first Aggie score and less than 10 minutes later in the first period Hunt passed to Sikes to the 21-yard line of the visitors and then passed on the next play to Alsabrook who went over for the score iTlie third score which came in the second quarter was easily made on a pass hurled by Hunt to Petty who stepped acrosa the goal line at the corner of the field Hunt and Alsabrook put up a passing exhibition to place the ball within scoring distance in the fourth period and Hunt crossed the line in a they overwhelmed the Mineral Wells Mountaineers by 31 to 0 It was the first time that the locals have won since 1921 Prior to 1921 the Kangaroos had an unbroken string of 11 victories That year the Mountaineers reversed form and have had the Kangaroos licked to a finish every year until Thursday Two thousand saw the game 500 or more coming from Mineral Wells Tar-brough fullback and Cogburn quarter were the outstanding figures in the game with Duncan halfback a close third In fact Duncan's interception of a forward pass and end run for touchd wn in the last few moments of play was one cf member of the Bearcat team during the game the line King made five through the came Aggie line and then the Maroon DE LEON Nov 24 Tke district football contest between De Leon and Haskell here Thursday afternoon resulted in a 12 to 0 victory for Haskell It gives the district championship to the western nortion of district team called tim and held a huddle conference behind the goal line After holding Ford for a one-yard three class Sweetwater and Haskell will play the chamrdonshm gala and with only one-half yard to go Ford repeated through the line for for district honors I.
