four he really believes he has a chance to land the pennant Since the days of the Tiger success in championship battle Jennings has been struggling to get back into championship form Just about the time that Jennings got his club going right something happened Men who were touted as wonders failed to deliver Pitchers did not stand up and accidents shot the club to pieces Jennings has had to get new outfielders and he has successfully developed Veach Of coursees he has Cobb and Crawford to fall back on and never has to worry about them To get a third sacker Hughey had to retake Vitt as a ball player and instead of letting him perform in the outfield got him on the infield And Vitt has 'come through Getting Young for second was a master stroke in the eyes of lJennings Young seems to have every-I thing Jennings tried hard to make a first baseman and he has given a half dozen likely looking candidates all the chances they need But they failed to come through Kavanaugh has been turned into a first baseman and while he aier not measure up to the Jennings demand at second he appears to be suiting at first The Tiger pitching department has taken on new life Jennings has developed some new stars From top to bottom he has a fine ball club this season and if he is able to keep away from accidents the Tigers hope to come down the stretch causing the others all kinds of trouble KAISER manager home on a squeeze play Bill Wagner delivered in fine style Before leaving for South Texas Manager Atz told the writer he considered Wagner the equal of any pitcher in the league: He further stated he expected to see Wagner have Fort Worth fans raving over him before the season is much further advanced Looks as if Jake had the right dope 'Wagner's rood work makes the PaVhers look better than ever It is not often a player who loses out in a class league advances immediately to class A but this is just what has happened to John (Bill) Taff Taff who was released by the Paniers a week ago has landed a job with the Chattanooga club of the Southern Association He was obtained by the local club several weeks ago from Beaumont While with the Panthers Taff pitched good ball but couM not
