A. 312 new members were added to the association membership. The postmaster of Wichita gave "25 membership tickets to the boys in the postoffice. Besides the great benefit to the association from the infusion of new blood there was the additional benefit of the $2886 that went into the association's treasury. Wichita evidently has great faith in the Young Men's Christian association.

There is a membership contest on in the Winfleld Y. M. C. A. between the "Goats" and the "Kids." Each dollar received from new memberships, renewals or from subscriptions counts one point.

The mark set is 150 new members. The Goats are now leading with 54 points and the contest closes Saturday night, Feb. 19 at 10 o'clock. OLD TIMER QUITS SERVICE. Leavenworth, Feb.

South Ml 41. if Feb. 7 Almost ev ery state on the Atlantic seaboard from Maine to Florida today is expecting the coldest weather they have had during the winter, while the temperature i the west and northwest is growing warmer. Canton, N.

at 8 o'clock this mornP had a temperature that more nearly approximated the weather that exists at the North Pole, than any other place 1 the United States. At Canton the official thermoraeter of the weather bureau indicated 22 below zero. The cold extends far into the south, where tonight frost will be felt as far south as Northern Florida, weather officials say. Warmer weather Is promised for tomorrow throughout this section. 1 Season Records Broken.

New York, Feb. 7 New York city struck the minimum in winter temperatures and ju3t about the maximum of cold weather discomfort and suffering today. Records for the seasou were brok, en with the registering of a temperature of 2 degrees above zero at 8 a. m. The lowest point previously reached by the mercury of the official thermometer at "the weather bureau was 5 degrees above on January 5.

Indications were for continuation all day of the cold wave in its severest form. Along the Atlantic coast the wave of frigidity was felt to an extent not experienced for several year3. 'Two Men Frozen. Philadelphia, Feb. 7 Very cold weather prevails today throughout Eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.

The bodies of two men were found on the streets of this city during the night, both having been frozen to death. In the anthracite coal regions the temperature is -below zero and in some of the mountain sections of Pennsylvania the mercury fell to 10 degrees below. The minimum temperature in Philadelphia was 5 degrees above zero at 7 a. the coldest weather recorded here since February 5, Boston, Feb, 7 All New England is shivering in the cold wave which blew down upon it yesterday from the northwest. In this city from midnight until 8 o'clock the temperature was 3 degrees below zero.

West Virginia Fatality. Pittsburg, Feb. 7 Pittsburg experienced its coldest day of he present winter when the weather I u-reair thermometer recorded a minimum of 2 degrees above zero at 8 o'clock this morning. Outlying suburbs report an average of 10 degrees below zero. A forty-mile an hour wind accompanied the extreme cold.

Wheeling, W. Feb. 7 West Virginia is experiencing the coldest weather of the winter. Official temperatures range from 2 degrees above IB. V.

The official board of the Christian church met last night and discussed the question of purchasing a pipe organ in the new church. The sentiment is practically unanimous for the organ if the money can be secured to pay for it. A meeting was called for next Monday night at the church for further consideration of the subject; to this meeting all members of the church are invited. The individual communion set has has arrived and will be used for the first time Sunday. The set is sent on trial for-four weeks.

Rev. Nichols and W. B. Chambers will be sent from the local church to attend the Laymen's Missionary conference at Wichita, Feb. 17-20.
