INVIN3HI Brazilian 1916 BEACH Court 301 Australian Avenue, Palm Beach, Florida 33480 LIFE STYLES Driver alert saw Quick action on the Samaritan may have LIA FISH FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS grateful bystander shaky tire part of a Good prevented an accident two weeks ago in North Miami Beach. While Myron Mooers of North Miami was driving home from work, a man began yelling and chasing his van as he turned off Biscayne Boule- vard onto Northeast 151st Street. When Mooers stopped, John Kitts, an employee at the nearby A and Tire Store, told him that his wheel was about to fall off. Of the eight lugs that should have been holding the wheel rim onto the 1976 Ford Van with oversized tires, only three were left, he said. "His wheel would have fallen within a block or two," said Kitts, of North Miami Beach.

Kitts put the spare tire on the van, and when Mooers returned two days later with a new wheel rim, Kitts replaced the wheel for him. "After it was all over with, I thought, 'My God, if that tire would have come off and hit Mooers said. "The kindness and alertness of this man undoubtedly helped to avoid a very serious accident or injury." "Even when I'm driving on the highway and I see someone with a bad tire, I try to say said Kitts, 27. "Most people don't want to hear about it though." Trip to Israel Cheryl Erickson returned Wednesday from a one-month trip to Israel that included a visit to Migdal, Israeli sister city to North Miami Beach. While there, she stayed with the city's mayor, Haim Barlis.

She presented a document to the mayor from Councilman Joe Moffat that named Erickson deputy ambassador to Migdal. She saw the kindergarten that North Miami Beach is helping CHERYL ERICKSON: Saw the sights of Migdal, Israeli sister city to North Miami Beach. Migdal to fund. Her visit was part of a longer trip to Israel she made with 450 young Jewish community leaders from across the country who are affiliated with the United Jewish Appeal. "We wanted to show our support to Israel," said Erickson, 22, of North Miami Beach.

"It was really nice to be able to talk to someone who has to live in that situation and to tell them we love them." She attended lectures and museums, went tubing on the Jordan River, and toured several cities. Erickson said that a highlight was when she looked up her family history on a museum computer. She also visited the border between Israel and Lebanon. "Every day, I saw guards and guns, but I wasn't scared," Erickson said. "I can't explain the peacefulness I felt." Erickson also spent two weeks in an extremely poor neighborhood, Orakeva, where she tutored high school students in English and helped clean up the town's square.

Erickson founded the Jewish Individuals of Dade County, is a member of the Jewish Federation, and is a member of the Committee for Accuracy in the Middle East Reporting in America. She graduated from North Miami Beach High School in 1984, Florida International University in 1987, and is teaching at Fisher Elementary School in Miami Beach.
