FORT WORTH STAR-TELEGRAM thursday evening Dee i I Classified 3324722 Circulation 336-8171 Other Depts 338-9271 eaw 0 Defendant ruled sane Today Paris man admits to Carla Walker killing Unheeded plea sparks paranoid into brutal act 4k)7''' ''t' '21 It -voi 1 8: tk '4 I 't '4 i l'41t '-'i 7 -44'1 toftwor l' -'''''l '1 0 ''7 11'1 at junior was discovered by two Fort Worth patrolmen with a search party A special fund containing several thousand dollars was set up for information leading to her murderer but was returned to the givers in late 1975 Adams said sheriff's investigators have questioned the man extensively and determined most of what he seems to know about the case could have been read in newspapers The captain said the man has told police he is subject to blackout spells The suspect is not being detained for the Carla Walker slaying at this time but is being held for non-payment of child support Adams said He said investigators have learned that the man was in Fort Worth at the time of the slaying Evidence that investigators have compiled is being presented to the district attomey's office and Adams said attorneys there will decide on a course of action Adams said investigators are taken the man's statements seriously but have not ruled out the possibility he may be a person who confesses to crimes he didn't commit By BINNIE FISHER Sisr-Telegram Police Writer A 32-year-old service station attendant from Paris Texas has told Tarrant County sheriff's authorities he killed Carla Walker whose body was found Feb 20 1974 in a culvert near Lake Ben brook Capt George Adams who heads the sheriff's investigation unit today said the man was arrested in Tennessee about two weeks ago "He went strolling into a police department there and told them he killed a woman at Lake Benbrook" Adams said Adams said sheriff's deputies took the man back to Fort Worth and investigators began questioning him The suspect thus far has given investigators only verbal statements pertaining to the Carla Walker case Adams said The 17-year-old Western Hills High School coed was abducted Feb 17 1974 from a bowling alley parking lot in west Fort Worth Miss Walker and her boyfriend Rodney McCoy were getting into a car when a man wearing a western hat gabbed the girl and fired a shot which grazed McCoy's forehead McCoy struggled with the man and was Eason These people that are living in my house right now their name is not on the lease I think it's in everybody's best interest and in everybody's best health that they leave immediately Griffin Well I want to know Ahy they're there in the first place Eason They're here they've paid rent They pay rent to you? Ms Master regains custody CARLA WALKER killed in 1974 hit in the face with a pistol and shot a second time in the head The bruised body of the high school Master has had custody of the children since Thursday when he took them while Ms Master traveled by jet to Colorado with Davis for a skiing holiday in Aspen The judge initially agreed to signing an order giving Master temporary custod of Walter Adrian Master III 9 and Chesley Joseph Master 6 The order stated the boys were not to be taken "around or near Cullen Davis who (Ms Master) is presently living with" In Wednesday's hearing Ms Master testified that Davis 44 has been a compassionate loving tender man toward her sons "well and beyond the call of a father" "He is very patient very tolerant and loving with (my) children" she said Davis she said is learning sign language so he can better communicate with Chesley who is deaf She denied allegations that she frequently leaves the boys alone with baby-sitters while she is with Davis Davis acquitted of a capital murder charge this month in Amarillo moved in with her at 4 Arthur Drive in September 1975 she testified QUESTIONING BY Master's attorney Odell Mc Brayer centered on the fact Davis resides at her home although he remains married to Priscilla Davis Today's chuckle Life would really be pleasant if people who have money used it the way people who haven't say they would if they did By ARNOLD MARKOWITZ linightRidder Nespapers MIAMI Less than three hours before committing the first of two ghastly murders last July Marc Eason called Miami Police to beg for help He said he might kill On grounds that his was a civil complaint he was refused Eason was ruled competent to stand trial in a hearing Wednesday His trial is scheduled to start Monday For most of his 30 years Eason's life has been a jagged chart of violent acts and gentle kindnesses A succession of psychiatrists has described him as schizophrenic and paranoid a split personality tinder a delusion that others were out to harm him Four years ago in Livonia Nlich he felt threatened by his mother and cut her throat nearly killing her By Friday night July 22 1977 he had taken all he could from Ronald and Donna FILL who shared his half of a duplex in Miami's Coconut Grove and nagged him about his sloppy habits BY SATURDAY morning both had been hacked to death: Donna by karate chops with the muscular Eason's hands Ronald by frenzied blows with a hatchet At about 10:30 Friday night Eason called the police emergency number In a voice straining at sometimes calm sometimes halting sometimes pleading he talked for three minutes and 15 seconds with a civilian communications operator named Marjorie Griffin The call like all calls to that number was taped This was the conversation: Griffin Miami Police Department Griffin Eason Uh would you please send a police car I can't hear you Would you talk a little louder?
