president of the Texas League at the Fort Worth meeting There was some opposition to Allen at the Houston meeting but this was seemingly short lived A new secretary is sure to be chosen at the Fort game came in the first two minutes in the play and I was the result of a long forward pass 1Wil hams to Leach who ran through a broken field to the Presbyterians' goal for the only score of the game Williams failed on the try at goal Daniel Baker showed remarkable defensive powers on four different occasions when Baylor threatened to score Baylor's failure to try other than line plays probably cost them at least one more touchdown Daniel Bakers' best chance of winning came in the second period when the terrific line plunging of her backs placed the ball on Baylor's six-yard line where the Methodists held for downs The half ended with the bail In Baylor's possession on their own ex-yard line t4 The feature run of the game was made by Williams of Baylor getting away for a gain of forty-five yards around right end A fake play in which Leach was called upon to carry the tan also netted a long gain Due to the wet and slippery ball handling the forward pass was difficult The Brownwood team outweighed Baylor by several pounds to the man but they did not have as great variety of plays The visitors had the best end of the argument at the kicking end of the game Captain Adams AGAIN Preparations are beLng made to ac- commodate the largest crowd that has attended a football game in Port Nk-crth this season at Morris Park where the Central High School and Dallas High teams will clash next Saturday The keenest of rivalry exists between the two institutions and the game is sure to attract widespread attention Athletic relations for the past two seasons have been severed between tbem so keen was the rivalry of the past Both schools are represented by strong teams and each bas been ably coached In weight age and experience neither has any advantage Dallas has suffered only one defeat this season and that was at the hands of the crack North Side High School last Saturday Central High has a record t'-utt is untarnished by defeat The Purple and White eleven has met all of the best high school teams of North Texas with the exception of North Side High and Dallas and in each instance ha a been on the long end of the score If the North Side High team refuses to play Central according to the rules laid down by State University the probabilities are that Central will be selected as the team to meet the winner of the championship of South Texas to decide the championship of the entire state The Central High men declare that they are entirely within their rights by playing certain men said to be ineligible by North Side and that they are within the law as proscribed by the State InterschoUstic Association Reports from Dallas say that the High team of that place will be somewhat stronger when they face Central than they were a week ago when they bucked up against the North Side team and were defeated They claim that with the addition of several men who were on the injured list a week ago that they will make Central travel some lo win On the other hand Central predicts a ratbcr easy victory Friday afternoon at Morris'Park the fast little Bryant team will pit their si011 against Nsrth Side High North Side should win owing to their greater weight and experience but Bryant can always be depended on for a scrap This will be the first game among local prep schools to decide the local cham114Ianager Henry of the team has a-ranged two more games to of them Inspector A Pelletier Corporal Joyce and Constables Walker and Conway got off a train at Regina their headquarters It is a raw unfinished prairie city about 100 miles north of the border line These men had just completed the longest patrol on record 3347 miles through the wildest and most desolate regions of the Far North a great part of which had never before been traversed by the foot of a white man Yet there was no carriag-e to meet them nor was there even a carriage for them to ride In They attracted no particular attention though they had accomplished one of the most remarkable and daring journeys in the annals of travel and explorationtil and had helped considerably to fill in the blank spaces on thA map They did not even receive a mention in the local newspaper but what- was regarded by them as far more gratifying than newspaper applause as the thanks of the prime minister When the next map is issued from Ottawa these men could if their modesty would allow them point out
