Yards team is stronger at present than at any time sine the season opened the addition of 1-ztribbles Lawson and Anderson and the return of Ozee from the Sherman club of the Texas-Oklahoma League making them as formidable as any team in the circuit They were barely nosed out last Sunday by the fast flying jersey Creams and the Sunday before defeated the tejuvenated Cleburne club Manager Curran of the Packers has signed several new men to fill the vacancies of Ashmore Short and Purvis and will in no means be handicapped by their absence Ile probably will snd Jennings a collegian to the firing line in opposition to Wingo Anderson the former Panther hurler who probably will work for the Stock Yarders In case Anderson does not work Maxon or 10-rieht are available Out at Thurber the two leaders will light it out for the honor of leading the procession In case the Miners carry off the verdict they will have An iron riveted hold on the top rung of the ladder but if the Distillers will the decision first place will be in a deadlock Jersey Creams at Thurber Manager Tinsley will carry his strongest lineup out to cope with the league leaders and firmly expects to be returned a winner Grimes or Vogel will be the choice of his hurling material The Thurber team has not lost a game since they were defeated by the Armours with Bill Sorrel's in the box in the opening game of the season Wood their crack left hander will be entrusted with the hurling end of the argument At Cleburne the Libbys will take on the team representing that burg Cleburne has been the tough luck team uf the league With a team that seemingly is as good as any in the league they have lost several very close games They have two star pitchers in Willie and Isom and may take a winning spurt at any time Libbys College football team for 1913 Mr Boles was recommended to the local institution by Dan McGugun the famous Vanderbilt coach Boles is a product of the University of Georgia Letters of recommendation as to his ability in football have been received from Coach Cunningham who has succeeded in turning out one of the fastest teams in the South for the past three seasons by the Cracker College The character of the new coach is such that he is able to take a position as instructor in history in the college He will teach two courses in college history George Aubrey Alexander who is now practicing raw in Font Worth and is an ex-coach of Polytechnic football teams and Happy Massing-il who coached the baseball team this year will be advisory coaches Air Alexander is recommended by the leading Eastern coaches and his work with the Polytechnic team was eminently satisfactory In 1912 he produced for Polytechnic College an undefeated team Mr Massingale is an athlete of the highest rank also being an All-State Texas star and will be a strong addition to the coaching corps Those who play football for Polytechnic College next season will be eligible to the Southern Methodist University team when that school opens up in Dallas The records of Polytechnic College in the association will be transferred to that school It is hinted that the atheletes Of Polytechnic College will be awarded Ms next year from the Southern Methodist University This statement has not been authentically made but a statement to that effect is expected daily Strong Schedule Announced That Poly has come into Texas Intercollegiate athletic circles to stay is evidenced by the schedule she has arranged for the coming football season Polytechnic has been playing consistent football for a number of years and is now clearly recognized as one of the big four in Texas athletics The election of Dr Clayton Gumm of Polytechnic College as president of the Texas Intercollegiate Association was a mark of appreciation of the school and what it has stood for in athletics and a distinction to Dr Gumm who is recognized as a leader in educational and athletic circles The Polytechnic schedule follows: Oct at Austin Oct at tournament was a handicap affair and was productive of some very low scores showing that the fair golfers of Fort Worth are very adept at the great outdoor sport The tournament just closed was the first for ladies exclusively ever held In Fort Worth and was such a huge success that already there is talk of making it an annual affair at the country club The following ladies took part la the
