conditions under which the miners agree to accept the operator' offer tf a 10 per cent advance The resolutions provide that the operators must continue the payment of the advance until April 1 1901 and abolish the sliding scale tin the Schuylkill and Lehigh mining region making the scale stationary at 10 per cent above the present basis of price Should this proposition prove unacceptable the resolutions proirore that all questions at Issue be submitted to an Impartial board of arbitrators In conclusion the resolutions recommend that there be no resumption of work until these propositions may be made to see that they are enforced None of the operators' views on the resolution's could be ascertained tonight as many of them are in New York attending1 a conference and others are Vanderbllt University of Nashville Tenn yesterday aiter-noon at Dallas The Texas colors orange and white predominated although there was a good spi inkling of the gold and black Yanderbllt's colors The game was called at 3:25 Texas kicked off and 'the State University's hist touch-down was made in fifteen minutes by Leslie the right half-back Schreiner missed goal Score Austin 5 Vanderbllt 0 Fumbling on botn sides was quite frequent Leslie goes through Yanderbllt's center for 35 yards and follows 'that by going through the guard for another touch-down Schretner kicks goal Score Austin 11 Vanderbilt 0 On the next kick-off by Vanderbilt Russ (who weighs about 132 pounds) of State University makes a run of 25 yards and then gains 20 yards more on a criss-cross Leslie then carries the ball through Vanderbilt's center for 2 yards followed by Russ making 10 yards around for another touch-down Schreiner kicks goal Score Austin 17 Vanderbilt 0 This last touch-down of Texas was made in the short space of $V2 minutes In the remaining few minutes of this half Vanderbilt tried hard to score but all in vain McFarland Vanderbilt's left tackle was hurt and Lowler took his place In the second half Vanderbilt kicked off and McMahon the right tackle of the State University caught the ball and made a beautiful run of 50 yards and then by continual rushes through Vanderbilt's center of 3 5 and 8 yards by Texas Leslie of Austin carried the ball over for another touchdown Schreiner kicked goal Score Austin 23 Vanderbilt 0 After this until the conclusion of the game nothing of any note happened except the superb tacking of Sohreiner of Austin and the serious injury of Godchaux the quarter-back of the Vanderbilt University who was hurt in a fair tackle by Schreiner of Austin He was carried from the field unconscious in which condition he still remained at 8 o'clock He suffered internal stomach injury and the breaking of one rib Davis the full-back of Vanderbilt also received slight injuries in this half and was substituted by McDonald There was not a special feature on the Vanderbilt side worth mentioning they just simply could not stand the terrible rushes and plays made by the Texas boys Before the game started the Vanderbilt supporters were offering 2 to 1 on their team btit after the first fifteen minutes of the game not a bet could be made with them Such Texas yells as this could be heard throughout the game for the boys who represented the orange and white: Hulla Baloo Hooray Hooray! Green here who are decidedly In the majority as they thought sure that the committee having the investigation in charge at Chicago would decide in favor of Green The settlement of the mooted on-troversy as to who was chairman of the Republican state executive committee puts an entirely different phase on the political situation of the state as far as the Republicans are concerned as the gubernatorial ticket put out at the state convention at San Antonio by the Green convention and headed by Burkin of Houston will not now be recognized as the official ticket and that put out by the minority or Hawley faction headed by Hannay of Hempstead will be the regular ticket It is believed now that the Green ticket will be withdrawn and the whole party support the last named ticket Very
