hey to 'I 0 'Classic' is the new look of men's fall fashions Sears success gel Toughed please mothers mi Seam Roebuck and Co believes that expert appliance service is the key to custotner satisfaction and to retailing success That's why the majority of its technicians are graduates of one ot the company's five technical training centers "As appliances become more sophisticated" says Sandy Wright customer service manager at the new Ridgmar Mall Sears store "the need for a new breed of service personnel becomes greater With professionally trained technicians on the job the cost and length of service calls is minimized This means a direct savings to the customer" Thousands of Sears technicians report to training centers for instruction each year Each center offers more than 40 comprehensive courses ranging from basic op eration to refrigeration systems Technicians attend classes at a training center in Dallas that gives specialized training to thousands of Sears technicians each year After graduation these technicians become members of Sears nationwide service organization that enables Sears to uphold its pledge "We Service What We Sell" Vested suits and fine line striped shirts look right Solid shirts are in muted colors often in oxford or oxford-like cloth The new oxford material is blended and doesn't shrink or wrinkle as much "If you have a brown suit that isn't vested you could buy a tan suede vest to update it Careful and quiet contrast will work In many offices men are wearing subtle and classic sportcoats and looking right" Roten- suggests berry buy only one sweater make it a Shetland crewneck It you buy more take a look at the updated wraps and collar sweaters for layering during cold weather" Rotenberry said Jeans go on and on but look best when clean and pressed A lot of them will be in corduroy this fall probably a modified flare Also look for a straighter leg for boots or biking "Classic 1977 is an attitude about clothes It's a more relaxed and confident approach" adds Rotenberry "The peacock certainly isn't gone but he's a lot more subtle about clothes today" In MI Sears Roebuck and Co introduced a new line of jeans designed to fill the need for more durable clothing Following two years of research and testing the company developed "Toughskins" which have new tri-blend fiber content and construction fea4- titre specifically designed for playing children "Mothers tell us that jeans have never been as tough as children" explained Jerry Compton manager of the Children's Store "and this is why IToughskins' were devel never broken in a Sears wear test In addition to extensive laboratory testing field tests were conducted at an orphanage In Chicago where nearly 100 children wore "Toughskins" over a two-year period "In our lab tests we found that loughskins' had the highest breaking strength and the highest seam strength of any jean tested" Compton said In the field at the orphanage "Toughskins" faded very little even after 101 washings and had less than one per cent shrinkage oped Our test results both in the laboratory and in the field show that sToughskins' last approximately twice as long as any other Jean tested" Toughskins have a fiber content of 60 per cent 59- Dacron ZZ per cent 429 nylon and 18 per cent cott According to Compton these are the strongest types of Dacron and Nylon made New construction features include double-stitched flattened seams using polycom thread a double knee (guaranteed in writing to outlast the jean) and a zipper that hae "Classic" is the key word in men's fashions for fall '77 Last season it was said that menswear was on a return trip to the classics Well the trip's over Menswear has landed squarely on its feet offering some favorite old looks some updated looks and a lot of new ideas about how to pull it all together "The term 'classic' means long-lasting fashion" says Rick Rotenberry Sears' Men's Store Manager "It means that investment priced clothes should wear like investments too Classic isn't any one look It can be 'Classic' English tweed or 'Classic' Iv League" he stressed "but it's been termed and redefined to today's way of dressing" It's not the '50's it's not the '40's It's pure 1977 Classic that utilzes some of the best in recent fashion history It includes vests double-breasteds herringbones easier jackets and straighter legs Lapels are still wide and ties are in proportion definitely not skinny Crewneck sweaters become dominant again downs with longer points stay inside vests sweaters and jackets That's fall '77 put-together style.
