choose a union to engage in collective bargaining to safe working conditions and protection from arbitrary firings or harassment YET MOVIE PROJECTIONISTS theatre janitors and office employees for United Artists Theatres today face slick highly paid union -busters in business suits who lurk not far from the marquee United Artists locked out union projectionists in Southern California and Arizona (members of the IATSE AFL-CIO) and forced a yearlong needless strike on janitors in San Francisco United Artists' absurd offer" to the projectionists would eliminate 50 to 75 of their jobs cut the wages of many of those remaining and force one projectionist to service up to eighteen movie screens in two or three complexes up to 24 miles While reducing the cost of skilled technicians earning and $1100 hourly and who service two four and six auditoriums "executive" Robert Naify over $50000000 and his brother Marshall "gets" over $60000000 each We couldn't vouch for either the quality of projection or other conditions in theatres run by a company neck deep in labor problems it brought upon itself And no one can tell what United a $200 million movie industry giant with hundreds of theatres from coast to has in store for workers or movie-goers elsewhere if they succeed in breaking our unions here We hope you'll enjoy a movie soon ANYWHERE BUT UN'TED ARTISTS 7:00 Dan Rather
