Collectors are especially interested in the glassware of the 18th and 19th centuries, such as holly amber, hobnail, sandwich glass, lacy glass, Tiffany glass, cranberry glass,. Mother of Pearl glass, cut glass and many others. Milk glass or opal glass also is a favorite collector's item. It is an opaque, pressed glassware, usually of milk white color. Some pieces are found in blue, green, black and sometimes pink. One of the rarest types has a pattern of wheat sheaves pressed on the surface. It was heavily produced in the 1880s. Many of the original pieces are around, e.g., all kinds of tableware, covered dishes, candlesticks, lamps and ornamental pieces. It is still being produced today, and antique collectors have difficulty in discerning the original pieces from the reproductions.
