3 Cookin' made her famous When Lucille Hester died Tuesday at the age of what her friends remembered best were two things: her famous barbecue restaurants and her motherly compassion. Mrs. Hester ran the Big Apple at 706 Cliff for 21 years, from the 1930s to the 1950s. From 1954 to 1962 she ran Hester's-on-the-Hill at 2020 Ephriham Ave. For the last several years, she lived in a North Side nursing home.

Mrs. Hester moved there from another nursing home on the West Side so she could look out on the building where Hester's-onthe Hill used to stand, a friend said. Although the building is no longer there, many remember its grandeur. was one of the outstanding showplaces of Fort Worth," said Michael Kelly, who saw the eating establishment as both a patron and city health inspector. "It was so beautifully constructed.

She was very proud of the kitchen. There was much more stainless steel in there than we required in those days." Kelly remembers her second restaurant as a "friendly place to gather." Survivors include his wife, Hettie Mae Williams; one son, Leroy Williams Jr. of Arlington; one daughter, Belawender Williams of Fort Worth; six stepsons, James Fuller of Oakland, Willie Fuller of Daytona Beach, Alford Hudspeth and Lee Hudspeth of Fort Worth, Eldrage Hudspeth Jr. of San Francisco, and Willie Hudspeth of Denton; six stepdaughters, Catherine Banks, Dorothy Lane, Earlie Moseley, Trenelm Walker, Claudia Milton and Zelinda Hampton, all of Fort Worth; 37 grandchildren; and six greatgrandchildren.

ESTER R. HENDERSON 40-year resident Funeral for Ester R. Henderson, 65, of 2312 Reginald Road, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Rising Star Baptist Church with burial at Skyvue. She died Wednesday ata Fort Worth hospital.

Mrs. Henderson was born in Taylor a and wasa resident of Fort Worth 40 years. She was a member of the Rising Star church and Heroines of Jerico 141. She worked at the Grand Court of Heroines of Jerico from 1957 until she retired in 1975. She is survived by her husband, A.V.

Henderson; a stepson, A.V. Henderson a stepdaughter, Ida Mae Woodard, both of Fort Conley of Los Angeles, grandchildren.
