York firm specializing in company buyouts acquired WTVJ-Channel 4 in 1984 from Wometco Enterprises after the Wolfson family decided to break up its long-established Miami communications and entertainment conglomerate After FCC ruling Ansin said he would appeal within the required 30 days is just the first he said After his appeal GE will respond and the FCC will have to consider the matter again a process that can take months But the sale can go ahead on the assumption the FCC reverse itself on appeal If it does reverse its decision the sale will be voided In explaining their decision commissioners said neither the Justice Department nor the Federal Trade Commission raised any objections to the sale The commission said the acquisition did not violate its 1984 law that a network or its parent in this case GE own more than 12 stations or 25 percent of the national viewing audience The purchase of WTVJ-Channel 4 would raise share to 7 stations and 2238 percent of the audience A CBS spokesman said the network has not decided what to do next CBS has a contract with WTVJ-Channel 4 that runs to April 1988 although the contract lets CBS cancel its affiliation if the station ownership changes The network could decide to switch over to Ansin or move its affiliation to one of the independent stations such as WCIX-Channel 6 The independent stations however generally have a weaker signal and thus reach fewer viewers in South Florida At GE spokesman Jack Batty said trying to work out arrangements with Ansin and Suggested media analyst Dennis McAlpine of Oppenheimer
