solution to problem By LORI ROZSA Herald Staff Writer Airports are noisy a fact of life aviation planners who are conducting a noise study at the Naples Airport said Thursday but a fact that can be made more palatable if the jets are quieter and the runways don't lead planes over houses At a series of workshops Thursday representatives from Aviation Planning Associates discussed possible solutions to airport noise problems Their suggestions included using runways that lead planes over areas that are mostly industrial more often than the runways that lead over homes and encouraging others go by the dishes rattle" Other suggestions for dealing with the noise include using FAA funding to soundproof the houses within the unacceptable noise level areas or to simply buy the houses Andrew Daniluk of Aviation Planning said it would cost about $21 million to buy 21 houses that are in the noisiest areas Soundproofing 276 homes in nearby areas would cost $5000 per home for a total of $14 million He said the study will be complete in late December or early January The next public hearing on airport noise will be in November at a date yet to be determined commercial and private
