combines the sitcom and variety world pockets deep as black holes bankrolled the acquisition of the former Metromedia television station group as a broadcasting base and 20th Century Fox Studios as a production base Then a network of affiliates was assembled: 99 former independent station signed up (including South WCIX-Channel 6) about half of what each of the three established networks boast but a formidable start The lure to the stations was seminal effort The Late Show Starring Joan Rivers Rivers began her nightly whine Oct 9 and was available through those 99 stations in over 80 percent of the homes with televisions in America Broadcast live from the Fox Television Center Hollywood week nights from 11 to midnight Eastern time the show is popularly misunderstood as up against especially
