A Wednesday Sept 9 1987 The Miami Herald 7 A Israel probes Palestinian protester Depression weakens over North Carolina from Herald Wire Services A tropical depression lost its punch Tuesday as it brought rain to the Carolinas and Virginia The depression which formed Monday evening off South Carolina moved inland overnight and began to weaken before it could do any damage On Tuesday the center was over north-central North Carolina Flash flood watches were issued Tuesday for parts of Virginia where flooding washed out as many as 50 roads Monday Meanwhile Tropical Storm Cindy was expected to lose so much steam as it headed north in the Atlantic Ocean that it would weaken below storm status forecasters said Cindy was about 550 miles southwest of the Azores at 10:30 pm EDT The storm with
