San Francisco to 13 fourth-quarter points and a 30-20 victory over the New Orleans Saints Montana reinjured his ribs in the third quarter at San Francisco when sacked by defensive end Jim Wilks With just over 10 minutes left Cavanaugh a former starter for the New England Patriots engineered a 59-yard drive capped by a 23-yard scoring pass to Earl Cooper who shook off defender Frank Wattlet at the 18-yard line and raced into the end zone for a 24-20 lead Moments later rookie defensive back Jeff Fuller intercepted a Kenny Stabler National Conference pass and returned tthe ball to the New Orleans six The 49ers were forced to settle for a 22-yard field goal by Ray Wersching to increase their lead to 27-20 Fuller then broke up a desperation fourth-down pass to give the 49ers the ball at the New
