611, Free and Accepted Masons, Freeland, seeks to convert the former Killian's Family Restaurant building at the corner of Carbon and Adams streets and add a 16x30 foot building at the property, listed as 303-305 Adams St. The planning commission, chaired by Vice Chairman Bob Correll and with member Richard Mladek present, formulated a letter to be sent to the hearing board. At issue in the application, according to the commission, is the matter of the borough's right-of-way on Adams Street, and ingress and egress to the property including at an emergency exit. These items will be checked out, Correll said. FHS prom Friday; list school events Maple Lane gets conditional OK The sacrament of holy eucharist was celebrated at St Ann's Church at the 10:45 a.m. Liturgy Sunday. Very Rev. Francis Kelly, VF, pastor, was celebrant of the Mass. The altar was adorned with a banner donated by the class which displayed all their names and had the theme, "Come to the Table of the Lord." The offertory gifts were presented bv class members Adams, Angelo, Barry, Hubel, Martin, Otte, Searfoss and Tiglio; readings were by Kollar, Myers, Uricheck and Dion. A "sign of peace" was extended to the faith community by the first Mark 25th anniversary Mr. and Mrs.

Joseph Gaydos, Drums, celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary. They were married April 30, 1966, in St. John's Byzantine Catholic Church, Hazleton, by Monsignor Joseph Jackanich. Gaydos is a native of Eckley. Mrs.

Gaydos is the former Ber-nadine Bodolosky. They are the parents of a son, Matthew. A Mass of Thanksgiving was held on April 28 in St. Mary's B.C. Church, Freeland.

A papal blessing was received by the couple. A surprise anniversary celebration was held in their honor at the Holiday Inn, given by Mrs. Helen Kuntz and Terry Ann, aunt and cousin of Mrs. Gaydos. Guests attended from Southampton, Allentown, Hershey, New Jersey, Virginia and the Hazleton-Freeland area.

Freelnd gets grant Freeland Borough was notified by the Luzerne County Office of Community Development that its application for a Capital Improvement Program grant has been approved. Mayor Ken Job told borough council this week that the grant check for $40,000 was received and turned over to the borough treasurer. The grant through the CIP program will provide funds for the construction and restoration of streets in the borough. That program presently is being worked out. Councilman Gene Knelly, who heads the council's streets and sanitation committee, said that residential area streets, Chestnut, Walnut and Schwabe, have been earmarked for work late this summer.

The Masonic organization, in Freelnd for about 100 years, has its meeting hall on the third floor of the former Fairchild-Whitehead (Woodie's Restaurant) building. Brought out in the heaing last night is that no liquor will be dispensed in the lodge building, in line with a credo nationally accepted by the Masons that no alcoholic beverages are allowed. The Freeland lodge has a membership of 140 on its rolls, but a smaller number of members meet on a weekly and monthly basis. MIDGET MEETING The Freeland Jr. Whippets Midget Football Association will meet tonight at 7 at the Freeland YMCA. WILL RUN the Foster Township High School. He spent several years in the military and was graduated as a pilot and participated in flying combat missions in the European Theatre in World War II. After almost five years in the service, he returned to Freeland and went into business and became ao tive in civic affairs.

He was one of the organizers of the Fearnots Volunteer Fire Co. of Foster Township and helped to build the firehouse building on Green Street in the township. He also was on the ground floor of organizing the Freeland Little League baseball program and also was in the forefront in establishing the Freeland Open golf tournament more than a score years ago. Hollick, in a statement, said the reason he is entering the Foster po litical race and seeking another term are many, but he listed two. He said that for the first time in the political history of Foster Township, there is no representative of the Woodside District, which includes the Grove section and the west end of the township, and is the most populated area in the vast township.

Also, he added, is his feeling that every supervisor should represent all the people of the township and not select, special interest groups. As to experience in being a supervisor, he said that he spent many years on the road crew in the township and 20 years as a foreman the Luzerne County Road and Bridge Department, and attended many road maintenance classes and seminars over the past 25 years. Jennifer Mowery Wins Big 33 scholarship Jennifer Mowery, Freeland High School senior, has been awarded a $1,000 Big 33 scholarship for 1991, it was announced by school officials. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.

John Mowery, 25 Railroad Upper Lehigh. She plans to attend Bucknell University in the fall. Thirty-three scholarship of $1,000 each were awarded from over 600 applicants. The scholarships are open to all students and are academic-technical in nature. They are given annually by the Big 33 Scholarship Foundation a non-profit foundation based in New Cumberland.

Janine Smith St. John's crowning set The Blessed Virgin Mary Sodality of St. John Nepomucene Church will hold its May crowning Sunday proceeding the 9 a.m. Mass. Janine Smith, sodality prefect, will crown the Blessed Mother.

She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Vemon Smith, Smithwood Road, R.R.1 Freeland. She is a freshman at Bishop Hafey High School and is a member of the BHHS Student Council and junior varsity cheerleading squad. Sarah Gallagher will serve as crown-bearer in the ceremony.

The court consists of Kelly De-John, Peggy Gallagher, Leslie Herring, Jessica Iben, Jennifer Kokiko, Beth Lesko, Chris Lesko, Kristen Michalesko, Robynn Smith and LeAnn Uricheck. St. John's pastor, the Rev. John B. Boyle, will celebrate the Liturgy Musical selections will be offered during the ceremony and Liturgy by Judy Opert, director of the parish youth choir.

BASEBALL TRIP A group trip for the night game July 13 between the Phillies and San Francisco Giants is being organized by St. Anthony's CYO. The prom is the first of the series of year-end activities announced by FHS Principal Adolph Peters. Anthony's CYO program will hold its awards banquet honoring basketball-cheerleader graduates and year-end award winners on May 23 at 6:15 p.m. at Cherone's 1 Jackie Branz, former CYO cheerleader and a basketball player with St. Anthony's girls team and the Freeland High School Lady Whippets, will be the main speaker. She graduated from Lock Haven University. The Rev.

John Doris, pastor, and coaches Chuck Ravina, Steve Jordan and Jeanine Laputka will take part in the program. Awards will be presented to graduates. Players and cheerleaders should make fund-raiser returns following the 10 a.m. Mass on Sunday. Uniforms can be returned on the May 23 banquet date.

Chadaga, of the housing facility on Route 940, the Freeland-White Haven highway. Authorizations still must come for the work planned there from the township planning commission, supervisors and state Department of Environmental Resources. Thirteen more housing units are planned for the park, and a vast improvement of the grounds is underway.

Included in the project will be a new, expanded sewage treatment plant, a community pavilion, landscaping, and new paving. Some of the conditions imposed last night include the need for two accesses to the park from the highway; a check of sewage problems in the park by the township sewage enforcement officer; approvals by the DER; and screening of the sewage treatment plant, which must be located in an off-wetlands area of the 25-acre development. Douglas Bird, engineer on the project, represented Maple Lane. Two other cases were heard at last night's lengthy meeting. Approvals were given to J.R.
