During the entire history of the school or at least in later years, seldom was there a class social or picnic held without the absence of a class president or some other distinguished members of the class and some or all of the refreshments. Many times this went so far that the govern ment took hand and straightened things out.

The boys of the school were called together and voted, unanimously to eliminate this time-honored scrapping. Accordingly, resolutions to that effect were drafted by a member of the Senior class and signed by the presidents of the four classes. After the students had taken their seats in chapel, a solemn procession entered the room, headed by the very devout John Murphy, solemnly attired as a priest. He was followed by the four class presidents who carried a small black casket, beautifully draped in black crepe paper. They ascended to the rostrum and placed the casket in a conspicious place.

The president of the Senior class made an address and read the resolutions, after which the "priest" gave the dedicatory address As the mournful strains of Chopin's Funeral March floated forth, the casket was borne by spent tne aay in vvemngton. An immediate embargo on the exportation of wheat as a preventive of further increase in the price of bread is recommended for consideration by the federal government in the report of Mayor Mitchells food committee, submitted by George W.

Mayor Mitchell has forware-ed the report to President Wilson. The withholding of wheat by the farmers for higher prices and speculation on the basis of continued heavy export are given by Mr. Perkins as the causes for the high prices.
