Davidson got record-setting performances from four players and turned back a fourth-quarter rally to remain unbeaten defeating San Diego 27-13 in Division I-AA college football Saturday late Saturday night The Wildcats have won 12 consecutive games sharing the longest Division I winning streak with Nebraska and Robert Morris Davidson quarterback Paul Nichols sparked the offense completing 21-of-33 passes for 285 yards and two touchdowns as the Wildcats improved to 5-0 It is only the second time (1926 1969) the school has won its first five games San Diego which joins Davidson next season in the football-only Pioneer League is 3-4 In addition to Nichols other top Wildcats performances were by: Receiver Corey Crawford who had a career-high nine receptions and 156 yards Linebacker Bo Henderson who had a school-record four sacks giving him a school-best 25 for his career And special teams star Ryan Crawford who blocked his sixth punt to tie a Division I-AA record for blocked punts in a season thing we need to work on is finishing on Davidson coach Joe Susan said had an opportunity to score more than 27 but we need to be more consistent finishing Davidson returns home Saturday to play Randolph Macon at 1:30 pm East Carolina 42 Army 21: David Garrard threw for 195 yards and two touchdowns as East Carolina won at home against Army extending Division longest losing streak to 10 they fell 3-2 in overtime Just 2 minutes 29 seconds into the match a Joe Lampert foul in the penalty area gave the Deacons (8-3-1 2-1-0 ACC) a penalty kick Wake Ben Stafford converted the opportunity depositing the ball in the lower right comer of the net The Deacons scored again late in the half when Jamal Seale banked a shot off the right post for a 2-0 Wake lead at halftime Wake Forest held the 49ers to just two shots in the first half But Charlotte (6-5-2 4-2-1 C-USA) turned things around in the second half With about four minutes to play and Charlotte down a goal Ntando Tsambo fed Robinson 15 yards from the net Robinson dove and headed the ball over the sprawling Wake goalkeeper into the upper left comer to tie the game 2-2 In the overtime period Charlotte mishandled the ball which gave Wake Forest the ball at mid-field Moments later Jeremiah White took a shot from 10 yards out on the right side of the net past Charlotte goalkeeper John McDonough for the game winner just dug too deep
