(AP) The state Health Department is notifying 57 of its current and former employees that they have been exposed to a cancer-causing chemical and should see a physician, a department spokesman said Saturday. Spokesman Mitchell Leon said 47 former and 10 current employees were exposed to the chemical, which he declined to identify. Leon also declined to say when or where the exposure took place. Leon said the department was notifying the employees by registered mail. He said he would release full details Monday.

Under the arrangement they seek, the husband would father a child with another woman by artificial Insemination, the Courier-Journal reported Saturday in a copyright story. The woman would be paid to carry the child to term and then give it to the couple. The couple want to remain anonymous for the time being, said their attorney.
