54 Santa Cruz Sentinel Sunday, August 7, 1977 Vital Statistics FUNERALS SC Doctor Critical Of Nyerere LOS ANGELES (AP) Tan-zanian President Julius Nyerere, who will pay an official visit to Los Angeles over the weekend and stay with Mayor Tom Bradley, is trying to stir up racial hatred in his African nation, a Santa Cruz doctor who spent the last three years there said Friday. Dr. Stanley Monteith says distrust and hatred in Tanzania now exists between tribes, not between blacks and whites. "They just have no compassion for someone of a different tribe. You can't conceive of the tribal hatred," Monteith said as he anounced a protest against Nyerere's visit.

"We could have no black doctors or black nursing supervisors at our hospital because if they were from a different tribe, the nurses wouldn't take orders from them." But he added: "They look to the white man as mediator. There is good will between the blacks and whites although there is no doubt that there is injustice, too. there are those who are trying to stir up racial hatred, suspicion and fear between the blacks and whites." Nyerere is one of those, Monteith said. "He is comitting genocide," Monteith said of Nyerere. "He is a dictator who kills his own people because they disagree with him and trains terrorists to kill black people in Rhodesia and South Africa." Earlier, Tony Hilder of the conservative American Party criticized Bradley for "using tax money to roll out the red carpet" for Nyerere.

Central, with headquarters at Salinas, began operating in 1973 after signing an identical "cooperative marketing agreement" with each of the 22 members named, the FTC said.
