DOUBTERS. Can Be Cbangsd by Knowledge. If there is anv doubt about making brain power by the use of certain food, the doubter should make the following experiment: len Francis Huntington, of Gainesville. 'ivs: "Just a word of commendation concerning Grape Nuts which I have found to be the uiot wholesome, nourishing nnd appetizing food that has ever come to rnv knowledge. am rot a dyspeptic, but being constantly engugid in severe brain work I found that I did not thrive on ordinary diet: even moderate dinner dulled my brain so as to be practically ineapabio of critical work.

I trie meat juice, peptonoids, the two meal system of light breakfast and no supper which brought on nervous depletion nnd sle plessuess. so I resorted to one and another of the various health foods which all seemed iiliku tastel.ss and valueless brain food, until quite by chance. I had a dish o' Grape Nuts food served as a dessert. I liked it so well that I began to use it daily, for supper four teasnoonsful In a saucer of hot milk, eaten before it dissolves to milshiness. "This point should be remembered ns.

after a certain time, evaporation seems to affect the sweet nutty flavor of the food as in the case of certain iine tiu vored fruits. "The result in my case was finiply astonish ing. I had no desire whatever for sweet pnstrys. meats, or in fact anything else; and my brain was i clear and active at niaht as on awaking, from a long, refreshing sleep. "The peculiar advantage nbout Grnpe Nuts food is that it snpnlh's the nutritive (pinlities of varied without the bad results of heavy eating.

I cheerfully recommend its to brain workers, if not ns an excluiive diet, certainly for the last meal nf the day. I always take it with me when travelling, which saves deal of annoyance and discomfort." THREATS OF "PROCEEDINGS" Alfred Hall Promises Vancouver a New Sensation. Alfred Hall, the barrister, who recent lv left this city to make his home ill Toronto, writes to frien Is that he proposes taking criminal action gaint several parties with whom he hud business transactions in this city. TIIE CHURCH AND MARRIAGE. Action of The Triennial Episcopal Convention By No Means Final. San Francisco, Oct. UK The action of greatest importance taken yesterday by tho Trieiiial Episcopal convention was the ndoption by the House of Bishops, by a vote of i7 to lil. of canon lit), which relates to the soleuiniiing of marriage.

Its provisions had reviously been argued, except those contiiitH iii section 4, which forbade the mil mil go of persons divorced for any cause not existing before marriage. This is understood to refer to such causes ns insanity, inability to execute a contract, the existence of living wife or husband, or like reasons, which practically render the mat rings null und void. This section hns been a bone of contention, a strong element in the church holding thut the re marriage of an innocent party to a divorce granted on the grounds of Infidelity should not be forbidden. This element has refused to accept this view of the matter. The question is by' no means settled, as the whole subject will now come up in ths House of Deputies, where it i expected to cause a protracted debats.

Fur theremore a most inconvenient change has been made in the carriage of the mails to the north, which now go up two successive days.

Wednesday and Thursday, instead of Wednesday and Friday, to the great inconvenience of those people at Cumberland and Comox, who expected that when the two mails were instituted there would be sufficient time between them to allow letters which arrived bv one to be answered by the other. The object of this manoeuvre is self evident. Should the E. N. Co.
