Syracuse, N. Sept. 28. The Democrats commenced to arrive early thi3 morning for the convention. Up to the hour of meeting no choice for tho nomination for Governor was had, or given out by the leaders.

The Bryan Democrats will name the ticket. After temporary organization the convention adjourns. There will be no balloting until tomorrow. IN SESSION. Syracuse, September 29 7 There was great confusion when the Democratic State Convention opened this morn ing.

Spectators seized the delegates' seats. The hall was packed. Temporary Chairman Palmer said he voiced the judgment of every reflecting man in the State that all signs point to Democratic victory in November. He attacked the Republicans on State issues and asserted that countless offices had been created to feed Republican politicians. A delegate offered a silver resolution and the Chairman referred it to the Committee on resolutions.

The delegate appealed, but was compelled to take his seat by the seargeant-at-arms. The convention then adjourned till tomorrow. The Investigation Commission. Washington, Sept. 28.

Only three members of the war investigators met today. Little business was transacted. Replies to inquiries are awaited. Overdue. San Francisco, Sept.

28. The Oregon eft the Navy Yard this morning and anchored off Staten Island, ready to sail for Honolulu. She was given a grand reception as she passed down the bay. The IoWa is not yet ready, but sails tomorrow if she can be completed. Both vessels leave together.

Three handwriting experts who recently won a libel suit against Zola refused to accept the offer regarding the payment of damages, which Zola was sentenced to pay to em. New York, Sept. 27. Jim Corbett and Kid McCoy met at the Gilsey McCoy a monkey, McCoy retaliated with "cur." McCoy said Corbett was afraid to meet him. Corbett answered, "I will put up my hands and fight you now." McCoy then struck Corbett two heavy left hand blows in the face before the men were pulled apart.
