THE CHARLOTTE OBSERVER Sunday July 2 1995 3B Ga woman kidnapped robbed Gunman takes off in her car By VINNY KUNTZ Staff Writer A woman hoping to find a job in Charlotte had her car belongings and sense of security stolen Saturday still shaking from the woman Molly Hinson told a reporter seven hours after her kidnapping ended Police and Hinson 45 gave this account: Hinson was in a car waiting for a return call at a pay phone at 3801 South Blvd at 9:10 am Saturday when a man approached the passenger Win dow of her 1991 Geo Metro The door was locked but the window was partially rolled down The man asked for a cigarette and she gave him one Then the man reached in unlocked the door and threatened her with a gun The gunman demanded money Hinson said she had none The man rifled through her wallet and found a bank card The man hoping to use the card in a bank machine ordered Hinson to drive Hinson said she hesitated because for one thing she knew her account was empty and feared what the man would do when he was unable to get cash said driving anyway or probably going to shoot she said Hinson drove about seven blocks north on South Boulevard As she approached the EZ-Serve at Ideal Way and South Boulevard she noticed a lot of people Seeing her chance to escape she pulled the car over and began screaming The gunman then forced her out of the car as he climbed into the seat and sped off north She was dragged 6 to 8 feet and suffered bruises and scratches Inside the stolen car which actually belongs to stepfather were two suitcases two overnight bags a Walkman a clock radio and more Locally Grown Tomatoes everything I have is in the she said got all my pictures in there and everything" Hinson is from Rincon Ga and is staying with relatives as she seeks a job in Charlotte The suspect was described as a 5-foot-9 black man in his early 20s with a mustache and slim build He was wearing jeans and a dark shirt The stolen car is a 1991 blue Geo Metro with Georgia license plate RER-322 Produce Is Now Coming In!
