Jean Arthur will be in George Stevens' first picture at Paramount if George can buy the comedy they both want.

They've done two together: "The More the Merrier," with Joel McCrea and Charles Coburn, and "Talk of the Town" with Ronnie Colman and Cary Grant. The latter picture couldn't be duplicated today. Who could afford those four salaries? It would bankrupt any studio. Henry King, who is directing "Prince of Foxes" in Rome, writes his wife that the picture will be finished and he will be home, for Christmas. Greer Garson wants to do a Broadway play next season, and has a clause in her contract permitting it.

She was so moved by Laurence Olivier's "Hamlet" that she couldn't go to supper after seeing the picture, nor could she sleep Rosa Stradner, who was playing opposite Oscar Homolka in "Bravo," got most of the praise Boston critics. The car, long since discarded by the Maharaja, came into the possession of C. V. R. Matkinde, retired Los Angeles importer, a couple of years ago. The studio rented it for $150 a day.

The Rolls-Royce used in the flicker was one of several ordered by the Maharaja when he assumed the throne nine years ago. It was the least ostentatious of any of the, jallopies, being upholstered in blue leather rather than the leopard skin generally used in the royal cars of Baroda. The instrument panel is of mother of pearl and all of the shifts and brake levers are plated with pure gold leaf.
