NASCAR Winston Cup Series race was rescheduled for today at 10 am (ESPN) NASCAR officials called the 24th of the season's 29 races at 3:30 pm when it became evident that the weather wouldn't break in time to complete 500 laps or 266 miles on the 526-mile track The last Winston Cup race rained out at Martinsville was the Old Dominion 500 in September of 1970 It was rescheduled for Oct 18 and won by Richard Petty An omen? Thousands of fans hope so The most famous and most popular driver in stock car racing history is starting for the last time at Martinsville where he posted 15 of his record 200 victories Fans are rooting for King Richard to win at least one more time before retiring as a driver at the end of this season Petty 55 has the 15th starting position in the 31- car field after qualifying his Pontiac
