Ashbrook's Nick Clinard and East Gaston's Chad Drury earned Player of the year honors for the Southwestern 4A and Tr-County 4A conferences this season Clinard who has signed an athletic scholarship to attend Southern Methodist had a stroke average of 754 in six league matches He led the Green Wave to the Southwestern 4A title Drury averaged 736 as East Gaston finished fourth in the Tr-County Monday each competed in the state playoff competition The NC 4A championships are next Monday and Tuesday at UNC-Chapel Hill's Finley Golf Course Here's a look at what's happening at the area's courses: Briarcreek DALLAS The club continues its second annual senior and super-senior tournaments Thursdays in May The tournaments will be open to 60-and-older golfers from Gaston Lincoln and Cleveland
