4A FRIDAY, JANUARY 3, 2020 JOURNAL COURIER LAFAYETTE Harold S. Burnett, 92, of Lafayette, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 at Mulberry Health surrounded by his family. He was born on August 7, 1927 in Lafay- ette to the late Earnest Lee and Margaret Rose (Peak) Burnett. Harold attended St. Mary Grade School and Jefferson High School.

He served in the United States Marines from 1944-1947 where he was stationed in China at the tail end of World War II. On January 10, 1953, he married Audrey June at St. Mary Cathedral. Harold worked for W.H. Long as a Maintenance Supervisor for 22 years and delivered cars for several local dealers until the age of 87.

He had previously worked for National Homes for 30 plus years. Harold was a parishioner of St. Mary Cathedral where he was an altar boy when he was young. He was also a member of Woodmen of the World. Harold was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and uncle who enjoyed perfecting his lawn, cars, boating and camping on Lake Freeman, and watching the Boilermakers play.

Surviving are his wife, Audrey June Burnett of Lafayette; his children, Linda Trapp of West Lafayette, Brenda (Alan) Freeman of Plainfield, and Randy (Mary Swegman) of Avon; and his grandchildren, Michelle Armes, Bryan (Pam) Trapp, Todd (Amy) Freeman, Amanda (Kevin) Freeman, Craig (Russ) Freeman, Mike (Jenny) Burnett, and Leslie (Kevin) Roberts. Also surviving are his great grandchildren, Mackenzie, Mariah, Brock, Jake, Luke, Ty, Emily, Kendra, Larissa, Victoria, Dawson, Virginia, Skye, Kevin, Kelsey, Maggie, Demi, AJ, Haley, and Nathan and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Edward Burnett and his nephews, Richard McDaniels, Paul and Larry Burnett. A service will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2019 at 1 p.m. at Fisher Fu- neral Chapel with Father Coady Owens officiating.

Visitation will be held prior to the service from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Entombment will follow in Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, West Lafayette. Burnett WEST POINT Thelma Reeves Smith, 95, passed away 3:04 PM, Monday, December 30, 2019 in West- minster Village, West Lafayette. She was born April 16, 1924 in Wayne Township, Tippecanoe County, daughter of the late Mearl and Thelma Ruth Hoag- land Reeves. She married Dale E. Smith in Lafayette, November 17, 1946 and he preceded her in death January 13, 1984. Thelma was a graduate of West Point High School and employed for over 31 years with Lafayette Na- tional Bank and Indiana National Bank.

She had served in administration as Assistant Vice President. She had previously been employed by the Tippecanoe County office, Lafayette Journal Courier and Ross Gear. Thelma was a member of the West Point United Methodist Church where she served as for 65 years and the Wednesday Club. She also belonged to the American Business Assn. which named her Business Woman of the Year in 1972.

She was well known at Westminster for playing the piano and entertaining her many fans. She enjoyed music, and sports especially the Pacers, Cardinals, IU sports, White Sox and the Packers. She especially liked history and studied Lewis Clark thoroughly. She was very even tempered and kind woman. Surviving are, her brother: Raymond Reeves of West Point, two nephews: Brian Reeves of Portland, OR and Kevin (Kristin) Reeves of West Point.

Nieces: Mearleen (Tommy) Stockbridge, Shearleen (Paul) Lemen, and nephew Jerry Dean Angstadt all of TX. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Visitation hours are 1:00 3:00 PM. Sunday, January 5, 2020 with funeral services following at 3:00 PM at the West Point United Methodist Church with Pastor Russ Alley officiating. Inurnment in West Point Cemetery.

Augst, 79, formerly of Bringhurst, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2019, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare in Delphi. He was born Feb. 28, 1940, in Lake Odessa Village, to Gerald Augst and Rose (Cook) Augst.

He graduated in 1957 from Woodland High School in Michigan. On June 8, 1957, he married Carolyn Erb; she survives. Vaughn worked very hard throughout his life, working many years for MetLife Insurance Com- pany. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Delphi and along with his wife, helped start and build the Faith Baptist Church in Mattawan, where they attended for several years. Along with his wife, Vaughn is survived by his children, Gary Augst (Debby) of Commerce, Jason Augst (Christie) of Wilmington, N.C., Vickie Ayres (Richard) of Bringhurst, Cheryl French (Bruce) of Kalamazoo, and Celeste Mandley of Anchorage, Alaska; grandchildren, Terris Ayres (Amanda), Tiffany Noblitt (Brett), Taylor Augst, Jeremy Eggers (Kayla), Aaron French (Stacy), Caleb French (Jenny), Heather and Benjamin Mandley, Stephanie Underwood (Andrew), and Cameron, Kiersten, Keaton and Kelsey Augst; 12 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Bonnie Rockafellow of Charlotte, Mich.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ernest and Owen Augst; and sister, Geraldine Winsley. Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 3, at Genda Funeral Home Reinke Chapel, Flora, from 11 a.m. until the start of the service at 1 p.m. Pastor Bill Glenn will officiate.

Burial will follow at Maple Lawn Cemetery, Flora. Memorial contributions in honor may be made to the First Baptist Church of Delphi or the Carroll County Food Pantry; envelopes will be available at the funeral home. She was the daughter of the late Fred and Orcelia (Marquis) Lanie. She was a 1948 graduate of Williamsport High School. She married Richard Wayne Fix on Easter Sunday, April 9, 1950 in the St. Catholic Church in Hoopleston, IL. She accompanied her husband in the Fix Plumbing, Heat- ing and Air Conditioning business for 18 years in Williamsport.

She later worked at Harrison Steel Castings Company for 12 years as a clerk-typist and later served as a secretary for the Warren County Welfare Department for 2 years. She also worked on the election campaign for Allen Sharp. In 1973 Eileen and her husband moved to West Lafayette and were members of the Blessed Sacrament Church in West Lafayette. Her husband, Richard of 54 years preceded her in death in 2004. Eileen was an accomplished seamstress.

Her hobbies were quilting, flower gardening, Purdue sports, skating, swimming and dancing. She leaves behind two sons, Fred Albert Fix, Attica and Robert Wayne Fix, Maryland; seven grandchildren, Ryan Fix, Scott Fix, Christine Giurato, Tricia Bhotiwihok, Maryann Fix, Janeece Docal and Breanne Melikan; seven great-grandchildren, Anabelle Giurato, Cole Giurato, Bhena Bhotiwihok, Kilah Bhotiwihok, Mark Melikan III, Andrew Melikan and Celia Trigo. She was preceded in death by a sister, Ella Sheridan and five brothers, Edward, Willard, Ralph, Raymond and Amos Lanie. Friends may call at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 407 S.

Fix The Museum of Indianapolis just ended 2019 on a high note: Visitors broke the annual atten- dance record for the time in a decade. More than 8,300 patrons made the be- tween its new all-time-high number of visits at 1,318,915 last year and its previous record of 1,310,576 in 2009, the museum announced Thursday.
