rather than two networks must have reminded local viewers of other things channel 36 has kept from them since West inghouse Broadcasting took control of the station You say there is little If anything to be gained by writing channel 36 or Westinghouse No doubt both are fat and happy in a rich market Perhaps though cable customers have an effective recourse writing Cablevision of Charlotte suite 305 6407 Idlewild Rd Charlotte NC 28212 requesting that Cablevision carry channel 12 or channel 10 instead of channel 36 I am doing so today Mary Coyne Wessling Charlotte I think you were right to admonish WPCQ for cutting back on airtime for the Democratic convention At this point I certainly hope they plan on doing the same thing to the Republicans to balance things out As for the people who took you to task I think they showed their lack of creativity If they got tired of watching the convention why didn't they simply turn off the television and find something else to do during those hours? Surely they could have read a book (even a comic book) or gone for a walk or something really radical like talked to their family or friends Instead they took the time to get mad and then write you those letters Will wonders never cease? (for more rock) and it was announced that WZXI would switch to beautiful music I was overjoyed For several months I was an avid listener The only thing I ever heard on your station were beautiful music and a plethora of advertising I became convinced that your total "news department" consisted of a daily copy of The Observer For me the most glaring example of your lack of concern for providing news coverage occurred on the Sunday morning of the Beirut massacre Since I was tuned to WZXI all day I knew absoutely nothing about the massacre until I turned on my TV for the 6 pm news I hope that
